Yes, normally she would have blurted out her concerns, but she loved this man, so thought was given to her next words. “You’re too sweet, you know that? Could I, um, possibly preview these puppets? Andre had to admit that her fingers combing through his hair like that was seductive enough for him. Elle paused, not expecting that question in that tone of voice. She swallowed with a quiet clearing of her throat. Although talented at putting up a front, when it came right down to it, with someone she actually cared about, the curse of self-doubt would rear its ugly head at unexpected times. ❝ The fires of desire...? ❞ It had come out a soft question, and upon hearing it herself, her back straightened while the fingers in his hair balled into a loose fist as she rephrased her answer, this time in a commanding tone. ❝ Desire that burns brighter than the fucking sun. ❞

The problem was, he’d already seen more of these sites. Hadn’t she? Being a company girl, Elle traveled places that hadn’t crossed the serial killer’s mind yet. Though that was mostly due to his lack of interest in the abilities certain people had.
At her words, the serial killer rolled his eyes. “I’m SURE they have maple Slushos…” He paused, glaring for a moment. “And no, you can’t have a penguin.”
Even though Elle had traveled all over the world, there was never time to relax and actually enjoy herself along the way as every minute was spent working and trying to live up to daddy’s expectations. But now, as long as they stayed far enough ahead of their pursuers, there wasn’t a desperate rush. Cherry stained lips smiled as he said he was sure about the maple Slushos... only to have the sides of her mouth drop at the no penguin statement. “But why do you ask? You getting tired of running already? It’s not like it’ll be like this forever.” A rather loud slurp through her straw was given, signalling it was time for a refill.

“That word is so cliche. But no, if anything, being a villain makes me feel alive. I love being able to do what I want, when I want. Why do you ask? Need a nap?”
