Patch's best friend always has been and always will be his pet owl, Bluey. The owl is mischievous, like it's owner, and flutters around the castle like a student. Bluey hates being away from his owner and usually bats into lessons when he misses him, all the teachers hate the troublemaking bird.
But, whilst Patch adored his owl, he, too, adored his mother. After his father's passing, the mother and son team grew increasingly closer. There were too sides of their relationship; the side that was them training together, playfully bickering and having that mother-son banter with each other and the side that showed how much they truly loved one another, Patch putting up with her obsessive want to visit every garden centre in the country and their random dance sessions in the kitchen to their favourite songs. Patch Abercrombie, though you wouldn't think it, is the definition of a mother's boy.
If Patch were to come across a vial of Amortentia, he'd smell freshly cut grass from the moments where he and his mother would watch his father slave away at their huge lawn and they'd all laugh and cheer the man on; his dad and his favourite lemon cake she'd make afterwards to congratulate and thank him and peppermint, which has always been his favourite smell for some unknown reason.
Like many things, Patch prefers his music to be from the Muggle world. He has two favourite songs. The first is Another Brick In The Wall. His father introduced him to it, being a Muggle himself, saying, even though it was old, it was one of his favourites. Patch blasts the song at least once a day and that song's probably the reason his hearing is slightly poor. The second song is Fly Me To The Moon, though he'd never listen to it off his own back. The reason he loves it so, however, is because it's his mother's favourite song and the song the pair would always dance to.
Patch has never really understood minimalism or simplicity. Sure, he can enjoy a lazy-day and can certainly see the beauty in an instrumental piece of music but it isn't his preference. He'd rather live in a bright place and do exciting things with loud music and lots of laughs. Whatever the opposite of a minimalist is, Patch is certainly one of them.
Patch's boggart is, as you may have predicted, his mother's body being tortured. From his very first attempt, Patch succeeded in defeating his boggart. The image disturbed him so much that, now, he'll cast the spell so quickly, without even thinking about it too much. Anything to get such a scenario away from him.
To this day, Patch is very adventurous and brave. He'll be the kid enticing your own child to jump out of high trees and dive into gorges, the kid nobody wanted their own children to play with. Not because he was a bad person but because he was always up to mischief. This was only encouraged by their parents as they were exactly the same. Their back garden was always a playground for Patch, never a place that was a chore to mow or a chore to hang the washing out. And with Patch's mother's outstanding magical ability, there was no end to the adventures they could have there.
Patch's Patronus is a snake, another reason he hates Slytherin house, them being so closely associated with them. Most people assume his Patronus would be a lion or a dog, perhaps, but nearly nobody guesses what his true patronus is.
However, when you really think about it, you realise there would be no better animal for him.
Patch isn't one to just go in for the kill like a lion, he's sneaky, intelligent and logical, just like a snake, and is more likely to get revenge on you a month or two down the line when you've entirely forgotten you wronged him than in that moment. He's brave and precise like the creatures, too, and, though he isn't particularly fond of them, sees exactly why they are his patronus and he's proud of it, too.
Patch likes to live in "organised chaos". All around his bed in the Gryffindor boys' dormitory is clutter but he claims to know exactly where everything is. Textbooks, quills, personal items from home and general crap that nobody needs lies in a sea around his bed but he likes the business of it all. His perfect living space would look somewhat like this:
