Or maybe he doesn’t want to come back to MACUSA, perhaps he’s hiding in Brazil and Newt just happens to be there and Percival recognizes him, talks to him (after scaring the shit out of him, because for a moment Newt thinks it’s Grindelwald again) and starts following him around, helping him with his creatures and falls hopelessly in love (I mean it’s Newt, who wouldn’t fall in love with him?) and starts calling him little darling and it’s painfully obvious how in love he is, but of course Newt is completely oblivious.
