Forbidden magic
"So your'e the one who's going to replace me, huh?"
Katsuki ignores the dark lord's voice, and keeps using the man's blood to draw a perfect circle around Izuku's body. He doesn't cry, because he must be precise, he knows how important is to draw this particular spell to perfection, but his heart is definitely suffering.
If this doesn't work, he's going to follow Izuku to the other side; he refuses to live in a world that doesn't have his nerd in it.
"He'll never forgive you for this," the dark lord cackles, choking in his own blood; Katsuki had to cut his throat to get the blood he needed for the spell to work.
Forbidden magic.
A life for a life.
"He won't remember any of it." Those are the only words Katsuki mutters that night.

When they were just children, Katsuki and Izuku swore they would protect the world from "evil magic" those spells that had a price, and that price always involved hurting someone in one way or another.
Their parents were killed by dark magic after all, Masaru and Mitsuki died in the same fire as Inko did; a dark wizard cursed the village both children were born in because of a prophecy.
No one could escape the fire, except Katsuki and Izuku because they had sneaked out of their homes before the dark lord arrived. They just wanted to spend time together and explore the forest on their own without their parents knowing.
When they went back, the fire was still consuming the village, Izuku tried to run towards it to look for his mother, but Katsuki had always been stronger than him, so he tackled him to the ground to stop him.
The little blond boy didn't know, but he had already been given his heart to his childhood friend back then. He accepted the situation before Izuku and was determined to do anything in his power not to lose that sweet, nerd kid too.

When Katsuki closes the circle, he takes the dark lord's staff to touch the blood and start muttering the words he needs.
All Might should had never let him study that book, but at the same time, Katsuki is glad he did; the old man thought it'd be easier for Katsuki to fight curses if he learned more about them, just like he did.
But Bakugo Katsuki wasn't like All Might, Izuku was, and now he was dead because he decided to sacrifice himself to defeat the dark lord.
The blond, now a young adult, was more selfish than any of them however.
Katsuki kneels outside the dark circle of blood, grabbing the staff so hard for a moment he's afraid of breaking it in half.
He has to chant the words of the spell; it sounds more like a deal with Death than anything.
She has taken something from him, but he's offering blood in return. Another life taken by him with his bare hands, in order to prove what he's willing to do to get Izuku back.
He's perfectly aware that this is going to change him and taint his soul. He'll probably become more vulnerable to the temptation of dark magic, but he doesn't care.
Katsuki will use anything under his sleeve to keep Izuku safe, and by his side.

Izuku still tried to fight him, he struggled and even attempted to kick his blond friend away in order to free himself, but it was useless.
Sobbing he repeated over and over that he'd always hate him if he didn't let him go in to look for his mother. But Katsuki only hugged him closer nuzzling against his cheeks that were then wet with tears.
By the time one of the greatest magic users of all time arrived, it was too late; Yagi Toshinori stopped the fire, but everything was gone.
All Might took the two orphan children as his apprentices, but the truth is that the three of them became a family over the years they spent together.
Izuku was born without magic, but he was creative and determined; he used magic plants and ancient objects to help Katsuki as much as he could, and always patched him up whenever he came back with new ingredients for one of the nerd's potions.
The more time passed, the more Katsuki's love for him grew; until it was impossible to deny or even hide it.
The blond confessed when they both turned eighteen; Izuku agreed to date him but he said that marriage could wait a couple of years, or at least until they both found a way to stop the dark lord (or All for One as his followers started to call him) from hurting other people.
Katsuki accepted his nerd's terms gladly, even though he wanted to marry him right away, but he was (and still is) a fool in love, he'd do anything his Izuku wanted.
Well, not exactly anything.

The circle of blood lights up and AFO starts choking again. Despite being in a lot of pain, he laughs like the maniac he is.
"What would your mentor say to this?"
Katsuki doesn't respond, but he knows Yagi would be pretty disappointed, but he died of old age a few years ago, so he's not actually there to try to stop him.
The moment the former dark lord stops moving completely, the love of Katsuki's life, Izuku, starts coughing, before opening his eyes.
"Kacchan?"
The blond chuckles with tears in his eyes; he's never been so happy before. The minutes he spent without the nerd were so painful, he promises himself he won't let anyone take them apart again.
He's going to protect Izuku from now own, and he'll do absolutely anything necessary to keep him safe and happy.
"What happened?"
"We won, Izuku. You defeated AFO." Katsuki says, finally entering the circle. He can't help himself, he pulls the sweet nerd into his arms to kiss him senseless. The words he spoke are a lie, and it's only the first of many.
The truth will only get Izuku to hate him, and Katsuki is perfectly aware that he can't survive for long without the green haired man's love.

They went to a lot of adventures together, while trying to locate the dark lord, before Yagi died and declared both of them his successors.
With a few friends they made on their journey, Izuku developed a plan to defeat AFO. He assured Katsuki he wouldn't risk his life during the mission, but the blond knew Izuku had a plan B that he refused to tell the blond about it.
Despite following him like a protective shadow, Katsuki was too late to stop Izuku from sacrificing himself. He didn't kill AFO, but weakened him enough for Katsuki to slight his throat and start with the ritual, instead of simply finish him off, like the nerd wanted.
Because that spell not only required a life, it wanted the magic user to be cruel.
There was no time to mourn or worry about the consequences of using one of the most difficult and monstrous spells known to man.
And the fact that Katsuki was more than willing to use any other person if AFO died before the spell could be completed, didn't make any of it any better.
Katsuki's hands were covered in blood, but he didn't care.

Still believing their plan succeeded and convinced that he was only unconscious for a while, because Katsuki told him so, Izuku agrees to marry him a few weeks later.
They now have a potion shop in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the kingdom, and thanks to one of those potions, that Izuku has to drink for nine months, he's expecting his and Katsuki's first child.
The blond magic user has never been this happy, and despite living in an era of peace now, Katsuki keeps the book of dark magic and the staff hidden, just in case he needs it to keep his family safe.
Izuku doesn't have to know.
