“   three  guesses ?   ”   sounding  none  too  pleased ,   she  frowns  as  she  tosses  her  hair  off  her  shoulder .   of  course ,   the  act  is  all  a  joke .   the  facade  quickly  melts  away .   she  hops  off  the  sofa  to  stand  beside  him ,   arm  thrown  over  his  shoulders .   “    honey,   if  you  need  that  many  tries ,   i  don’t  think  you  know  me  that  well .   ”

“   huh ,   can’t  say  i’ve  noticed   --   is  that  your  cross  to  bear ?   ”

“   honey ,   let’s  get  you  home .   ”   her  hands  grasp  the  other’s  wrists ,   pulling  her  up  from  the  worn  couch .   the  afterparty  crowd  has  long  gone  but  she’s  not  about  to  leave  maddie  alone .   “   c’mon  now ,   think  you  can  walk ?   ”

with  bated  breath ,   she  awaits  a  response .   truth  be  told ,   she  doesn’t  expect  a  complete  compliance  with  the  haphazard  plan .   a  grin  spreads  on  her  lips ,   hands  clasping  together  in  joy .   “   perfect .   let’s  go .   ”   she  turns  on  her  platformed  heel  then  struts  toward  the  door ,   head  held  high .   clearly  this  is  not  her  first  time .   before  they  pass  the  door ,   she  leaned  close  to  liz ,   sparing  a  small  piece  of  advice .   “   just  act  like  you  know  where  to  go .   ”

“   what’s  the  worst  that  could  happen ?   ”   with  a  shake  of  her  head ,   she  has  to  scoff .   her  gaze  returns  to  the  stage  door  propped  open  by  a  careless  roadie .   “   just  come  with  me .   we’ll  be  fine .   ”

“   maybe  you  have  to  dig  a  little  deeper .   ”   she  shifts  from  her  position  on  the  couch ,   head  turned  to  him .   “   has  your  poor  heart  had  enough  of  the  debauchery ?   ”
