Larry Cohen’s “The Stuff”.

June 19th, 1972, the San Antonio premiere of Bob Clark’s “Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things”, one of the first “dead-eat-the-living” zombie movies to follow “Night of the Living Dead”.

The same film, first in February 1972 as “The Touch of Melissa”. After the incredible success of “The Exorcist”, numerous movies were retitled and remarketed as “exorcism” movies, and this one reappeared in 1974 as “The Touch of Satan” with the tagline “A story of exorcism!”

From 1981, David Cronenberg’s “Scanners”.

From April 1973: “Slaughter Hotel”, an Italian movie known under several titles, including “Asylum Erotica” and “The Beast Kills In Cold Blood”. This was one of two movies to make a direct reference to the real-life 1966 murder of 8 nurses by Richard Speck, although neither film had anything to do with the case.

Ultra violent, ultra nasty witch movie “Superstition” played unrated in American theaters, one of a number of horror films released unrated to avoid an X rating for violence.
