re: engagement, tumblr is relatively small and dead compared to platforms like twitter, instagram, or tiktok, but i love the engagement that i get on here even if i know my numbers are higher on twitter or that i could have a much larger audience on tiktok. those numbers don't mean anything if you don't connect through comments, tags, asks, lentghy explanations etc. such a shame that people who haven't joined tumblr over 10 years ago won't join in 2026 even if it's really nice for artists, like i know it's because it's not “worth it” because you don't go viral on here like on tikotk, but who needs 400k tiktok likes, especially when those audiences kind of don't care about art, they want short, fun, convenient content, which is why a lot of artist on short video platforms like ig and tt mainly post comics to trending audios, memes, etc. to each their own but that's not the kind of art i find fulfilling or like it says anything about the thing i'm enjoying
