The time period for when the asks are happening is ~ after day 1, post getting the red ticket and visiting the circus at least once.

Flirting is fine with any character or me [lighthearted/playfully], but persistent SERIOUS flirting towards me would cross the line as I am in a committed relationship! I enjoy some silly flirting and stuff. Just don't be genuinely weird to me as if I'm going to date you[Totally okay to be freaky towards the characters though! And Var is much more okay with weird... flirting and kinky shit! Lol]
Anything related to minors in 18+ situations will be ignored, and the asker will be blocked. Let's be sensible here.
Horror themes are okay! This is a horror game and thus a horror AU.
Please no harassment or mentions of self-harm. This isn't the space for that. Its a sensitive subject and I'm not equipped to handle that. Some of the characters might have thoughts in those regards, but I mainly don't want asks going into that territory
You can ask about the character's feelings on things or whatever suits your fancy! But keep in mind, I don't want to spoil everything in my AU right away. So any asks that directly ask about events will be carefully danced around … for now. But you'll definitely learn things! I think that makes it much more fun!
Lowkey-casual Roleplay is okay as well, but I can't guarantee it will be consistent replies over asks. I try to make art for most of my asks or do them in the format of the game.

What Is The False Angel Au?
The False Angel Au is a Freak Circus au that revolves around my character, Azephael[and perhaps some... unknown elements as well... whos to say]. I am currently working on modding the freak circus game to make fun scenes showing interactions between the characters. Yes, all the scenes are fully playable in Ren.py! I don't plan to launch a modded version of the game currently since this is just a fun side porject for my own enjoyment! I would love to make a fully original game someday, though :). Maybe if my au gains traction, I'd consider releasing a modded version if Neko was okay with it of course.
For now, I mostly want to post scenes and art of my boy, Az and his history with the circus members. I hope you will enjoy the little universe I've made and ask questions! Lore can be revealed through asks AND posts of gameplay!
Premise

Set in an alternate universe, the False Angel Au follows the same MC who helps pierrot from the original game. There's a twist, though- this time, Mc has a friendly ghost[ Azephael aka Phantasm] that has been their friend since childhood. During a tragic incident, Az drank some of Mc's blood and gave them some of his. With this, he gained the ability to touch things again and protect Mc.
Az vanished from Mc's life for several years after that horrific event until recently. Two years before the start of the standard Freak Circus timeline, Mc is saved by Az, who pushes them out of the way of a car. They rekindled their long-lost friendship during these two years. Az tells Mc of his siblings at the circus, never quite explaining in detail the darker side of them.
How will things diverge from the canon universe? In so many ways! The mysteries are piling up. Why is it so cold during the summer? What is Azephael hiding? Why can he touch things because of the blood sharing?
How will Az ever explain to his circus family why he's alive in some sense after being dead for nearly 300 years?

Sorry for lack of updates folks. Some ... unexpected life/medical stuff came up in the past 2 weeks. Been unpleasant, but I'm doing okay.

Ok! I'm honestly so excited to finally share everything. This has been a major labour of love over the past few months! Between writing everything, coding, drawing, animating, and even learning how to make basic BG music... Woo! I can't wait to hear people's thoughts, theories and experiences! This is the first full visual novel I've ever released, so hearing people's thoughts on it would be amazing!

Beta testing has been going rather smoothly! I'm still waiting to hear back from a few testers, but ideally, I'll make the game public before the end of next week! I plan to make a few more edits based on the critiques, but so far, the reviews have been pretty solid from everyone! Just want those last few opinions before we ship it :D

I have decided to host it on Itch.io, but as unlisted, aka restricted. This is a fan project after all, so I don't want to step on any toes here. Of course, it is 100% free, obviously. I'm doing this for the love of the game!
You can play it in browser on itch, and I figured this was the best way, so everyone who wants to play it gets the ability to. I will also include downloads for Windows + Mac if people want to download it! Making things accessible is important to me.

I think we are pretty much done working on the game, HUZZAH!
So what does this mean??
Playtesting can probably start, maybe even tomorrow, after I do a few more sweeps over the game myself! (I was just running through every ending the past hour or two and fixed up some bugs- whoops!)
So to all my playtesters out there (You know who you are 👀), be excited (I pray hahaha!)
I went kinda ham today and finished up a bunch of new art for the game, GUI updates, new dialogue 👀👀👀, and obviously some personal playtests!

You'll have to play through multiple times to see all the new dialogue options! I hope that'll be enjoyable!
okayyyyy I'm SUPER hyped! Wahoo! I feel like the game is rather short overall, but the branching options lead to lots of different things. Variety in dialogue is something I adore in Vn's, so I hope it reflects here.
The next big update should be talking about how the play tests went :D And then I'll have to crack down on any bugs, typos, etc, before a real launch! The finish line quickly approaches, rahhh!

woo! Hey folks! It's been a minute since an update post! Sorry about the gaps. I've been hard at work on commissions as of late, so all my coding has been backburnered.
hoooooweeeeverrrr today I was getting into some work!
Persistent variables have been implemented (Who doesn't love persistent stuff? It makes it so fun when there's a bit of secret replayability...!)
I have also been... Teaching myself how to make background music (??? new side quest ublocked...???) It isn't great, but it's definitely there :D
Besides all this, there's only a bit more to go !! I need to wrap up some of the art, and then it's off to play testing 👀! We shall see what the testers think, and then, after any adjustments, I'll figure out some way to share a download with the blog! Wahoo!
I've totally overcomplicated this project (as expected, whoops), so I really hope people will enjoy it! There's a LOT of dialogue to read and speculate over... Your choices do matter! There are a bunch of options, and depending on what selected you can get different paths to the 4 different endings (negative, negative/neutral, neutral, and positive)
Since I don't have any cool new visuals to show off, I'm not sure what else to include! Agh! I'm still utterly obsessed over this Oc (why else would I be trying to learn music theory... simp behaviour..!) So I've inserted some of the lines I find amusing, hehe!

He hasn't done TOO much spying on the others just yet... He likes to respect others' privacy, but he knows it's going to become a necessary evil before you visit the circus.
On the update side of things, I have been slowly working on the game. It's just hard to juggle with all the sewing since it totally destroys my hands, hahaha. So I often take a lot of breaks, so I don't injure myself.

Of course! This au is a main focus on Azephael after all! His romance route is pretty fun! But, it does have potential to get very dark...

Now I am torn.
On one hand I wanna know how dark it could get with our dear Az on the other, he's too nice for anything bad happening to him... T^T
Yes... Such an innocent young monster. You hold so many answers to the questions I have long searched for
Yes... Things have great potential to become dark. Very dark.
I will be upfront and say this: if the au had a full game, I would bet that more than 70% of players would get a bad end on the first playthrough.
A bad ending is almost certainly... Inevitable.
I like to imagine there are a few possible endings, but most end in horrific tragedy or with a bittersweet taste. Az is willing to do anything to save Mc if he senses they're going to be hurt. His perception of what is considered safe could become warped, however.
There's a reason why Az is "alive". Why sharing blood with MC allows him to 'live'. more corporeally, once again, why it makes him and MC so important. He is vulnerable, reliant on MC in many ways, including them sharing blood to sustain him. He's hiding things from them, things he maybe shouldn't. Will you, Mc, ever be able to forgive him?
Also, what happened to make Az a phantasm in the first place. Surely not a fluke or mistake...
So many bad things have happened to Az, things he never should have gone through. Sadly, mostly darkness lingers in his future unless MC can find a way to stop the unstoppable. This AU is meant to be a focus on grief, guilt, regret, betrayal, and death. So angst is a main theme.
I'm not saying I plan to make a full game, because that'd be way too time-consuming and I can't exactly profit from it... But I want to continue making content for now. Eventually, all will hopefully be revealed through some posts, though!
The most pivotal plot point will be hinted at heavily through the mini vn, so be excited !

I have added in the neutral ending, the route is also functional! Wahoo!
Besides this, I did a playtest of the positive route. It took me about 11 minutes from start to finish. I haven't added in all the transition scenes or art/other effects yet. But regardless, I think that's pretty solid! I read at an average/fast-ish speed i like to believe.
The positive route is the longest, so the other routes are shorter. They all hold different tidbits of information though. Clearly, the positive route will probably end up having the most unique art... But we shall see what I end up doing!
I've spent so many hours between writing the dialogue to the actual coding +art asset making. I don't want this to take another month 🥴😅🤣!
This project is really about introducing my mystery OC. And getting people to fall for it as hard aa I have. I've been trying to keep it simple. I hope in the future to actually make solo venture games that are fully original... But I couldn't help myself with this game, hahaha!
Sorry for the dry posting! I haven't done much visual art outside of a little drawing for my mothers birthday which is today :D. That and sewing for a commission, naturally.

All the routes are implemented and functioning! Wahoo! I did... 100% forget to write a more neutral route- whoops! So I'll need to write that asap. Included currently are, positive ending, negative ending, negative-neutral ending!
Nothing is a true "bad" end in this mini Vn... But the negative ending is definitely a bit more unsettling.
The positive ending is really fun, and there is some more suggestive content present. Nothing overtly perverse, but 👀... Maybe a bit gooner.
I'm contemplating whether to add some fun replayability with some persistent values.... Just a little bit of Easter egg-like content if you play through after a pos or negative ending.
We shall see!
So I need to write the neutral ending, do the rest of the art, apply all the scene transitions, apply all the expression changes, music and sound effects, annnnd final touches!!
