To all of you who were in Max Pegasus, I still owe a sincere Thank You.
In my last post I talked about how when I was young I always wanted to be a superhero. The thing I didn’t talk about was my second dream. My second dream was that I wanted to be in a band.
When I was little I was an extremely lonesome kid. Onetime my mother actually got a phone call from the school saying they were worried that I sat alone and stared at the sky during all my lunch breaks. My mom over and over made attempts to get me to socialize... But I never felt I fit in. Regardless of how much I wanted my own gang. I was never able to find like minded people enough to call them friends.
Fast forward to college. After miraculously somehow making my way into music school (A hilarious story for another time) I managed to find a group of weirdos who were insane enough to go along with my band idea. From this the band Max Pegasus was born. We rehearsed, rehearsed, and rehearsed played venues, competitions, festivals, you name it. It was my dream come true. My real life gang. My real life band. Made up of guys that became not only friends for me but also brothers.
It’s hard to explain to someone the feeling of playing music with your friends. I think for a long time I really felt we were on top of the world. Because no matter the size of the venue, no matter the size of the crowd. We always watched each others backs.
Now sometime has passed since the band stopped playing together. There was never a particular break up, or ending. But the tides were changing. You could feel it in the air that we all needed to grow on our own, in our own ways. I always felt I should have said a goodbye. That I should have said something. But the time never seemed right, and the words never came out well. So for all of you whom I’ve held so dearly here it is.
For a lot of my life I considered myself a lonely person.
Being able to be a part of this band changed that in me.
Thank you for teaching me music, performance, and how to not clap on 1 and 3.
Ian, Chris, Jack, Nils, and Jake - Thank you for dedicating so much of your time to my crazy dream. You guys will always no matter what be my brothers. I hope to work with all of you in the future. And hope to always have you all in my life.
Erin and Morgan - Thank you for every night at the merch table, for loading and unloading the cars, and for every photo and video.
Antea - Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to train us. Thank you for seeing something in us that others didn’t see.
To everyone who came out to support us at shows - Thank you for being our driving force. Thank you for keeping us so motivated and passionate.
Thank You for every single minute, and every single smile you’ve put on my face. I could spend a thousand years saying it but it wouldn’t be enough.
With this now I feel it is ok to close the page. I will still be making music. Hopefully I can still make music with these wonderful people even if it is in different ways then before. If anything I want to work harder then ever to make you all proud. so until next time... From Akira to Max Pegasus Thank You.
