The question is not whether or not whether she is dumb, or whether or not the question was bad, it's what she believes that interfered with her making a good impression. She believes that no, women shouldn't earn equal pay. She believes "men are the leaders," women should stay at home and take care of "educating children." She may be a moron, but this doesn't prove it (unless you count believing the BS that women don't deserve equal pay as proof that she is a moron, which, yeah, I think I kinda do). But really, it just proves that she got a question that she knew would make or break her, because in this day and age, no pageant, no matter how backward, would let her win if she said, "It means nothing is wrong with society. Things are exactly as they should be with women earning 3/4 of what a man does for equal work, oh except for that women as bread-winners part." So she flubbed it up, because she knew if she said anything resembling what she truly believed, she would be disqualified in an instant, and she knew that if she said the opposite of what she believed to win the pageant, the Mormon Church would disown her. Who wouldn't have flubbed that up if they had been faced with choosing between their life-long dream, and being disowned by practically everyone they know? She's probably a fine public speaker. How could she have gotten this far if she wasn't? Let's not take that away from her. Let's call it like it is. She's just a chauvinist pig, basically. But a pretty one, who may, or may not be, good at speaking in public. It wasn't the question that made her look dumb, it's what she believes that made her leave a bad impression, and perhaps her unwillingness to lie.
