Naomi heard the rush of footsteps before she could even fully usher the words out of her mouth. Clearly he wasnât expecting them, his own confusion evident in his tone. âBecause you touching me, means bad things for you.â She said quickly, pushing herself off the pavement. âThatâs literal, by the way. Iâm not trying to be some badass bitchy girl who doesnât ever need anyoneâs help.â She had no idea why she was spewing all this information at this man, but she was. Hissing slightly after looking at her scuffed pants that hid road rash under them, she turned her attention back to the stranger and took her keys back. âIâm fine. Apparently just blind and stupid.â She finished with a tight-lipped smile. âThanks for grabbing my keys.âÂ
The comment took him aback, he couldnât hide the frown that overtook his face either. Is she threatening you? Lucas surely didnât think that the women was out to spout venom when he was trying to help. Though, heâd sure as hell make sure she watched herself if she was out to get him. Hauling herself off the pavement, Greenman realised she clarified her statement and that eased off the jarring sentence beforehand.Â
âFor a moment there, I thought that might have been a threat,â he admitted, slowly creeping his kilowatt smile back on his features. âIâm only trying to help - so why can am I literally not allowed to help?â he continued, choosing to shamelessly pry on the womenâs remarks.Â
âNo problem,â he automatically answered as Lucas watched her recompose and take her keys back from him. Something about the encounter bothered him and naturally, his eyes narrowed to try and suss her out. It has to be some kind of power. That was the only thing he placed it down to if she wasnât choosing to resist help. âDefinitely not blind or stupid, however,â try not to make the flirtatious comment. Greenman managed to be sensible: âWeâll blame the sidewalk.âÂ
