Okay, I have started work on chapter two. New upload every Friday. Not sure how many pages every week, because I’m still figuring things out, and hand-drawn art can get a bit finicky at times

Okay new plan. New webcomic pages will be released on Sundays. Because I forgot how exhausting a day job is. And someone always seems to need me for something on Saturdays.

so what you're gonna do is you're gonna trim the top off a bulb of garlic, using the knife's edge to take off the tip of every individual clove, that's important. you're gonna place the garlic face-up in a square of tinfoil, drizzle with olive oil, wrap completely in foil, place in baking tray, repeat with a copious amount of garlic bulbs. you're gonna put that baking tray in an oven set to 375-400°F, for 30-50 minutes, until soft and browned. you're gonna toast some good bread, slather generously with butter and honey, maybe a tiny lil bit o' salt. and then. you're gonna SQUEEZE. OUT. THAT. ROASTED GARLIC. onto the butter honey toast. and you're gonna eat it. food stolen directly from the plate of the gods. that's what you're gonna do.

After "film trilogy that dropped a critical plot development exclusively via time-limited Fortnite event" and "video game series whose story only makes sense if you're aware of the events of a canon pachinko machine", I feel like there are whole frontiers of user-hostile narrative design waiting to be explored. Like, forget canon alternate reality games – I want to write a mythos-heavy TV show where the links between individual episodes can only be understood in the context of the patch notes of a licensed mobile fitness app. I want to make a lore-stuffed video game that uses your computer's system clock and geolocation data to ensure that the true ending which reveals what's really going on will unlock only while speedrunning it on stage at GDQ.

People don't give the Spore (2008) ambience enough credit. It is a masterpiece. Specifically the main menu music. Like evolution, it starts simple. Quiet. It adds instruments, some exist briefly, others stay forever. Its trying things out. Seeing what works. Occasionally it crescendos into a triumphant cacophony of music. A complex ecosystem of organisms. Then it will suddenly be hushed back into that quiet simple ambience. Mass extinction. And with those new instruments it will build itself again. A bit different this time, it puts itself back together.

Do you ever write a sentence and then realize “Nah, that’s too self aware for you” and backspace a bunch of times.
