I could see Jimmy getting really pretty about his relationship with Lister and going "you want a love song? Fucking sure!" And writing this.

The comparisons used to describe the feeling the singer is having are all self destructive and not necessarily healthy and while on one hand this works for a love song it does have the undertones on "this feelings are not good for me".

But also having the emotions of "you are brilliant, I dont deserve you" and "i want to be with you no matter how bad this is for me"

Rowan leaves for like a week and Lister and Jimmy who are not on speaking terms for some stupid reason decide to write a love song about/to Rowan as a silly goofy joke

However it doesnt stay silly goofy for long and the is part of the catalyst that causes Lister to realise he couldhave feelings for Rowan, and also Jimmy working through the feelings he had for lister

Verse 1: cheesy sweet love song (the silly goofey part)

Chorus: Jimmy "promising" that he does love lister, even if it isnt in a relationship way, in a way that is "hard to describe" and that "feels honest", and "hoping" that lister doesn't leave
