Once upon a time, in the province of Bithynia in the third century A.D., lived the most beautiful girl named Barbara. She was the daughter of a very wealthy man known as Dioscorus. He cherished and adored Barbara. He wished to protect the charm of his daughter from the world of men and decided to cage her in a tower.

Barbara had plenty of alone time she would keep herself busy by engaging in chatter with herself. Ultimately, this led to her belief in Christ. Soon she became a devotee to Christianity. There were numerous admirers of Barbara, but she rejected them all and dedicated herself to God. Her father, however, had different plans for Barbara. He had chosen a rich suitor for his daughter. Barbara refused to marry and explained to her father, a pagan, about her religious belief. Devastated by her faith and refusal, Dioscorus was filled with rage.

It is said that her father eventually beheaded his daughter using a sword. Barbara had prayed and prayed to God to save her; to her strong devotion, a hole had opened in the tower. It couldn’t save her from the cruelty of Dioscorus, but her death had resulted in a lightning strike that had killed him.

I can not express how much Greece means to me, and I have no clue why. But there's just something about Socrates, Epicurus, and stoicism that attracts me to Athens. Greece is a place I deeply desire to visit, to walk in the historic landmarks, and to harbour myself towards the Greek beauty. 

The type of attraction people, like Bill Gates, have towards Indian culture and customs, is the same as I have for Greek history and culture. Perhaps not many people of my generation are not fascinated by Greece, however, I am. And while, I do not know why, I want to write this blog to express my love and admiration for the same. Maybe this will make me realise why I am a philhellenist. 

In addition to this, I will write about similar aspects such as German folklore or Italian diplomats. One thing this page will cater to is my passion for International Relations.
