like as far as I’m aware the odyssey as poem and Greek mythology in general ALWAYs gender Athena as solely female, which is really fascinating in and of itself because of the sheer amount of time she spends going about the odyssey not only in the physical form of a man but performing male social roles….. but it adds to the hilarity of her consistently making odysseus taller and bigger when he has to stand before important people, like, she’s donating a bit of her costume gender to him momentarily to give her little drowned cat of a man some extra tissue papers in his sneakers
