All these tourists having a great time at the World Cup isn't surprising b/c the first rule of America is that this place rules if you have money to blow and it's a nightmare if you don't. The prohibitively high cost of attending the World Cup filtered out all the ppl who don't have money so all the people who actually made it to the U.S. are basically guaranteed to have fun

there is something kind of mystical about project hail mary that i find so moving given how much of it is about humanity and science ... the petrova line as a symbolic red thread of fate, the rainbow (biblically, god's promise) appearing as grace is being forced off of earth, rainbows constantly appearing in general, even the whole "hail mary full of grace" pun or that moment towards the beginning of the film where grace sees himself in the future-- i really love that phm understands that humanity is not humanity without everything we don't know, space as we (historically as a collective) have known it is not space without the cosmos and heavens; project hail mary is so human because of the science and the profoundness of love and everything but also because some of it feels otherworldly and inexplicable and that altogether is the human experience in a nutshell i think
