I’ve been playing around with the idea of getting into clothing design and going to fashion school, but I’m way too nervous to tell my mom.

They were both very supportive when I originally wanted to go to art school, but this is different. I hide a lot of my interests from them, and I haven’t told them I like fashion.

She is going to think it is an impulsive choice I made, but really it has been on my list of careers for a while now. I also think she would take it as a sign I’m “not trans anymore” because she believed my transmasculinity to be a phase, but it wasn’t. She just viewed me as a lesbian. Now I’m becoming way more feminine-presenting, and if she ever finds out about my identity she is going to use my appearance as a gotcha moment.

Plus I went from emo, all black and red, to now pastel rainbow colors. I don’t outwardly dress in them, but I know she would disapprove and say they are childish.
