SHE'S   LAUGHING   ,   BUT   THAT'S   NOT   RARE   .   moxie's   life   is   infinitely   more   fortunate   than   any   victor's   .   really   ,   she's   faced   more   privilege   than   most   in   the   capitol   .   to   be   living   a   life   not   chased   down   by   debtors   or   marked   with   famine   masqueraded   as   dieting   is   a   gift   .   it   all   grants   her   a   lackadaisical   air   that   carries   her   through   life   as   if   on   a   cloud   ,   feet   never   once   touching   the   ground   .   maybe   that's   why   lexa   likes   her   ,   that   refusal   to   even   think   of   the   bad   times   .   who   is   she   if   not   an   assurance   that   all   is   well   in   the   world   ?   well   ,   at   least   her   world   .

lexa knows the statement is not an invitation for the question she is about to pose, but she can't help but ask it anyway. " okay then. who are you? " the victor knows little about her paramour outside what she had gathered the first few instances they had crossed paths. she's a designer, an artist and a socialite. but that isn't all. despite the whimsy and carefree attitude, there's something CALCULATING under the surface. there's a part of her that's certain she will never know the real maxima tune. a shame, but perhaps the version she knows now is enough.

she wants to believe that at her core moxie is unlike the others in the capitol. that she's grounded and real. the type of person lexa would have sought out on her own and not through the influence of other victors and members of the ruling district. but would it change anything if the stylist turned out to be just as shallow and self-serving as the rest? doubtful. the former tribute would still wind up at the other's doorstep year after year. the sex is good - makes for an even better distraction. why mess with what isn't broken?

"Then we take my van and head on up. My baby was made for long trips. I even put in a cooler and some pillows and shit. It will be fantastic for a road trip to Indianapolis." Eddie tells her with a smile. He would have done that even if she hadn't brought up the point. He didn't mind driving... granted not everyone loved his driving. It was chaotic and maybe too fast sometime. He would try to slow that down and be a decent driver for poor Lexa's sake.

" Hey.. " She gently interjects, a concerned expression now coloring her features. It's true others expect little from him. hell, sometimes it seems like the whole town has it out for Eddie. It isn't fair. Since Lexa's gotten to know him, she's become one of the lucky few to see what a unique and fiercely LOYAL person he is under the barbs and bravado. It's a shame that others have already made their minds up about him. " Fuck it. You want to skip? Skip. You can get the cooler stocked up. " Half the fun is the journey, and Lexa can't wait to cruise the interstate in the infamous van.

lexa doesn't think she's ever set foot in a home ( it actually feels more like an estate ) that has this many rooms. to be honest, the expansiveness is a tad UNSETTLING. all this space for one individual. lexa enjoys peace and quiet as much as the next person, but here the silence seems like it would be deafening. but, to each their own. she accepts the drink, though straight whisky or bourbon is more her speed. never hurts to be open.

Though Haven can't say she's gone toe to toe with a demon, she's seen her fair share of evil, human and otherwise. "That's gotta be rough." She KNOWS what it's like, more than she needs to say. "Some of us just can't catch a fuckin' break, huh?" Haven's hand dives back into the sudsy ABYSS of the sink to find the drain plug now that the all the dishes had been scrubbed clean. It makes a gurgling noise when she pulls it and lets the water out.

She leans back, palms drumming against the counter edge. " It's okay, I went to a lot of therapy. Like three whole sessions. So I've got to be fine now, right? " She throws an impish grin Haven's way. In actuality, Lexa has not gone to a single therapist. How could she vent to a shrink about ghosts, demons and werewolves and expect to be taken seriously? The supernatural did not make itself known to humans purposely, and her parents were of the belief it was best kept that way.

"you're staring." there's a heavy pause as anya finishes filling out the page that she was focused on, double checking only briefly that she's not messed up the numbers, before allowing her gaze to lift and rest on the younger woman. while it's not necessarily unusual for lexa to visit the bar, it is quite unusual for it to be just after eight in the morning when the visiting happens, which leads to the suspicion that a favor is about to be asked. "why are you staring while i'm trying to finish up payroll for the week?" it was, hands down, her least favorite part about owning her own bar --- but she was too stubborn to hire anyone else to do it.

it would be hours before the bar was actually open to patrons, but that didn't stop lexa from coming to harass visit her favorite small business owner. if she had to guess, the older woman would either be knee deep in paperwork, or in the midst of a project she really should have hired someone else to do for her. but lexa couldn't fault her for wanting to get things done. STUBBORNNESS was a fault the two did share after all.

" mhm, " she agreed, not breaking her gaze. it drove anya crazy, but lexa wanted to ensure she had the other woman's attention before starting her pitch. she had woken up to a message from an event coordinator, informing her the venue they had secured for her band ( weeks ago ) had fallen through. normally, they would move forward and start pursuing other options, but there was a problem; their show had been set for that evening. they had made flyers and various posts on social media which had even garnered some buzz in the local metal community. finding a new place to perform on such short notice would take a miracle. unless....
