Design Notes

The flowers on June's halo are maybell flowers, Convallaria majalis. Other names for the flower are Our Lady's tears, Mary's tears, glovewort, and Apollinaris.

Sunday has two golden stud piercings on his left wing, while June has two silver stud piercings on her right wing, matching with one another and also marking them as opposites. They had their wings pierced together in a joint act of rebellion as children; only becoming estranged from one another later on in life.

The choice of silver rather than gold for June's piercings is a reference to the thirty pieces of silver Judas Iscariot was paid after he betrayed Christ with a kiss in Gethsemane, damning him to crucifixion and fulfilling His prediction.

June used to have six wings before the Nihility caused her wings to fall off the same way Acheron's red Oni horns no longer seem to be present after she becomes a Self-Annihilator. This is a reference to biblical Seraphim, six-winged angels that fly around the Throne of God, and how she ends up 'falling from heaven' since she loses two pairs of wings. Additionally, she specifically loses four wings, with the number four being associated with death from Japanese superstition.

June's eyes used to reflect every color of the Harmony, like a rainbow or an oilspill, before she became a Self-Annihilator. This is both a reference to biblical angels being incomprehensible to gaze upon and how birds see different colors thanks to UV light. (I haven't drawn her with her original eyes properly yet, but the Junehill fanchild actually ends up inheriting them!)

June has three belts. This is a minor reference to the fact that Xipe the Harmony has three faces.

Despite no longer believing in The Order or The Harmony, June still has various ornaments that symbolize the eyes of The Order on her clothes. The most obvious one is the ornament hanging from her necklace, situated over her heart. It is in relatively the same place as Sunday's eye ornament, which is in the middle of his chest on his black turtleneck.

The symbol on the patch of her jacket on the left side resembling an 'A' is the Circle-A anarchy symbol. This is supposed to be in line with the anarchist graffiti around Dreamflux Reef.

The color of Sunday and June's coats are inverted. The lines on June's coat also resemble thorns near the lapels, with Sunday's thorn motifs being much more prominent on his design.

The long sleeves of June's coat are detachable and re-attachable by zipper; the right sleeve is half-unzipped haphazardly.

This was unintentional because I designed her before the release of Planarcadia, but with how June's stockings are worn uneven, how there are bandages on her right leg, and how her sword resembles a box cutter after transforming, she has similarities with Aggressive Reading Material. I suppose it works anyhow since she's half Planarcadian?

Sunday has three hair tufts going down from the top of his head, June has two, and Robin has one. This wasn't intentional either, but I think it's very cute.

Sunday and June both have two thigh straps on the opposite legs respectively. June's is gold, attached to the bottom strap, and Sunday's is silver, attached to the top strap.
