Shit Happened.

I'm currently working on paying my medical bills from that as well as filing reports for a- surprisingly- unrelated incident and trying to get some pepper gel.

Good news: I'm fresh out of childhood pets to lose!

In August 2025, Google announced that starting next year, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platform without first registering centrally with Google. This registration will involve:

Paying a fee to Google

Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions

Providing government identification

Uploading evidence of the developer’s private signing key

Listing all current and future application identifiers

that basically means developing apps for fun as side projects or just learning as a hobbyist is kinda off the table. you wont be able to share your app with friends. you wont be able to find a cool app on github or wherever and just run it unless the dev went thru all this and they probably wont be doing that for free so much anymore.

not to mention this will fuck with piracy apps and censorship circumvention apps and so many more things essential to freedom. (obviously dont mention piracy when you complain abt this to companies/governments, but im just saying. i think we all know how important piracy is for media preservation.)

they claim theyre doing this to make it safer, but theyre obviously trying to monopolise the android market entirely. i would rather be free to install malware and be responsible for myself than be barred from installing anything that Paternalistic Google has not Verified. (and their idea of safety is "yeah we can doxx this dev so we have leverage so they wont do anything we dont like.")

We don’t have any of the large predators we used to (black bears, mountain lions, or gray wolves) but still retain large deer populations. If nothing is removing animals, they’ll quickly overload the carrying capacity of the environment and have massive losses to starvation and disease that can also pass on to livestock. Human hunters replace the large predators that our landscape can no longer support.

It’s kinder to euthanize an un-releasable hawk rather than try to find it a permanent home with humans. Wildlife rehabs have extremely limited space and resources and are usually run entirely on donated money and volunteer time. Only a few are large and stable enough to care for permanent residents long-term, and those spots are few and far between.

An invasive species poses a danger to threatened native wildlife. I will admit- Australian possums are adorable. But not in New Zealand, where they’re an invasive species that eats the eggs of ground-dwelling birds that previously had no such predators. The landowners I worked with replanting native bush, all native Maori, had no qualms about setting the dogs on them.
