Google is upgrading Quick Share with a new tap-to-share option for Android devices. Bringing two compatible phones close together can start an instant two-way exchange for contact information, photos, videos, and other content.

Photos and videos can also be selected through Android’s Share Sheet before the devices are tapped together. The experience puts Quick Share closer to Apple’s NameDrop feature, which introduced a similar proximity-based approach on iPhones with iOS 17.

The update is rolling out first to the Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 are next in line, with Google planning to expand support to additional devices before the end of 2026.
