"It can be a hard demographic to hold onto,” said Cimolino. “Good actors in that age bracket can usually write their own ticket and, if you’re in demand for movies or TV, it can be hard to commit to eight months or more at Stratford.” That’s what happened to Abbey, a Stratford native who made his stage debut at 11 as one of the fairies in The Merry Wives of Windsor and spent 15 of the next 32 years working at Stratford, interrupted for projects like his three-year stint on the CBC-TV series The Border. This season, he’s playing Philip the Bastard in King John and Count Johan Oxenstierna in Christina, The Girl King. Abbey strongly feels this is now “the best of times” to be a member of the Stratford company. “It’s the strongest I’ve seen the company from top to bottom and there’s a real ensemble feel to the place. It’s wonderful to be a part of it.” Being one of the “Five Guys” is an important part of the picture. “You look around and we’re all different kinds of actors. It’s great to know that someone can fill in the gaps that you’re not capable of doing and vice versa. I think we’re such a great team because we have affection and respect for each other.” And where does Abbey see himself in Cimolino’s Yankee lineup? “I’m a relief pitcher. Not a starter or a closer, but I can provide the solid middle innings."

What better way to pass the time waiting for the season to start than a photo of Mr. Abbey in a tux.

Stratford’s Graham Abbey discusses his active lifestyle, and the merits of small-town living
Veteran stage actor Graham Abbey has good reason to stay in shape this summer: he’ll be engaging in swordfights on an almost-daily basis. Expertly crafted, meticulously rehearsed swordfights.
A self-described “gym nut,” Abbey returns to the Stratford Festival for his 14th season in 2013 — and the dashing actor will once again be taking on some classic roles.
In addition to playing the infamous role of Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello and acting as second assistant director for Romeo and Juliet, Abbey will also be playing the role of Athos in The Three Musketeers, directed by Miles Potter.
Abbey is also known for his work on film and television. For three seasons, he portrayed Gray Jackson on CBC’s The Border, and has landed roles on other popular Canadian series like Flashpoint, Republic of Doyle, and Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The cast of The Three Musketeers answering your questions. Not my questions. This was too crazy even for me, I'm serious. ;)
I was wondering if Graham runs this page?
No he does not. This tumblr account is run by Mandy *waves* and I have been gnome deep in websites honouring Graham for the past 15 years. Rather than putting a full blown website back up, I thought this would be an interesting way to keep everyone updated on what he’s doing. Oh and we are the original (and long-standing) webgnomes, in case anyone was curious. ;)
