I DID IT!!!! (Sorry for the late post, the holidays were kind of crazy.) I elected to stop posting progress things here so that all my spare time could go towards actually stitching. ...I still didn't actually finish until Christmas morning when I used my mother-in-laws sewing machine to finish with the trim. >.< But I gave the completed thing to my Mom on Christmas Day, so it still counts! Wheeeeee!!!!
Another week down. Only 2 more weeks until Christmas. Fortunately this nightgown is not turning into the nightmare I thought it might be.
A new week, and more progress! I actually took this picture after working for part of the day, but all I got done was the center doll's hair.
I accidentally skipped posting last week, but I did remember to take the photo. So here, have 2 weeks worth of progress. I'm pretty proud of myself.

Progress for the week. Although really, all of this got done in one day.

Not much progress last week, but i took the second picture at the start of my stitching today and damn, was i on a roll today. Next progress post will have some actual progress! Look forward to it.
Apparently today is a day for feeling super nostalgic, so shoutouts to @talonsofwinter for teaching me to cross-stitch
I've been doing a little bit of stitching here and there and every time I think "that's not enough progress to actually post about." But actually, that's a lot of progress. So, here we have the last picture I posted to tumblr nearly 2 months ago, where I was at the start of last week and where I was at the end of last week. If I keep on like this I might actually finish in time for Christmas, I say, totally jinxing myself.

I need an opinion (or five)!
I am looking to get my Mom a cross-stitch software for her birthday in a month and could use an opinion about which to get her. Requirements are: Windows, and printable to PDF. As it's a gift, I'm totally willing to pay actualfacts dollars so it need not be free. I've heard good things about PC Stitch and WinStitch. Anyone use those? Are they good?
Ok, now that I'm home and not quite so sleep deprived, here is a photo update to go with my last text update. We have the final state of the butterfly before I passed it off to my Mom, the beginnings of Santa 2017, and my sweet actual Butterfly. I haven't been able to muster myself to actually stitch anything since the birth, but I'm hoping today might be different. We'll see. >.>
Reporting from the front
And by front I mean hospital. Due to some health concerns, the doctor has sent me in to be induced. What does this mean for cross-stitching? Well, I have a feeling I won't have as much free time coming up, for sure. >.< My current project status is as follows: I have called defeat on the butterfly and will be passing it on to my mom to finish. I started my other time sensitive project yesterday, though! That's right, Santa has been started! (Finally) I meant to take a picture to post with this update but, well, oops, and I left it at home. I'll try to remember to show you guys later. I blew through three shades of blue in part of his arm and am pretty proud of my progress for just one day. I have no plans to let this turn into a mommy blog, but you will get to see at least one picture of Butterfly once she gets here. Until then, make a couple stitches for me in whatever your current project is while I'm stuck in this supremely uncomfortable bed. <3!
First wing done. You can see also at the bottom the beginning of the grass and flowers, though I'm not gonna work on that yet. Now I actually get to put some color into this thing. Yay!
Tumblr tells me I've been running this blog for 4 years. Wow. Time just flies. Thanks to everyone who's been with me from the start, and to everyone who's followed me over the years. I know I've drifted a bit away from my original theme of nerdy things, but I'm hoping to get back to it eventually. We'll see how much time I have after Butterfly gets here. I'm predicting not much though. The curse of the cross-stitcher is to have an ever expanding list of cool ideas and projects and never enough time. In the meantime, here, have some progress. Finished the first of a predicted five skeins of black. Looking forward to switching to some color for a bit once the wing is done.

Not my craft, but I just had to share the super cute bear my mother-in-law knitted for Butterfly. Phone sold separately.
So on the bright side, the nursery is almost all painted, and a lot of the furniture is assembled. On the minus side, that means I haven't had much time to stitch. On the side of 'I'm a huge sap and my heart nearly exploded from feels when I saw this', here's a picture of some onsies for Butterfly hanging next to my wedding dress.
