he’s just left his parents’ and he’s looking forward to independence

richie helps him unpack his stuff, but he keeps getting distracted by the “cute guy next door”

stan’s tired of his shit so he looks out the window at where richie’s looking and oh!

oh he is cute, fuck.

he pulls richie back by the ear and they finish unpacking and afterwards richie goes to chat up that guy.

he comes back when stan’s tidying up his kitchen and introduces eddie, and stan’s made his first friend since moving.

they meet up for tea every friday and chat about their lives, because they’re both chill guys and richie and eddie’s best friend bill are kinda rowdy

in fact, bill and richie are getting quite close and going out partying together, so the responsibility is off stan and eddie

stan gets a cat

eddie’s cat takes a huge liking to her

and they have kittens

and stan and eddie raise them together until they’re old enough to be sold

and at some point during that stan falls in love with eddie

for the next two years he messes around not quite denying his feelings but not really dealing with them, happy to just spend time every friday with his neighbour.

he’s closer to eddie than he is to richie

(oh, to dress up in your arms. alone with nothing but our scars)

he opens up about some things he’s never told anyone

like how he considered killing himself when he realised he was gay because he didn’t know how his parents would feel (and how relieved he was when they still loved him)

or how he began to self harm when he became depressed

and eddie tells him about his overbearing and abusive mother

and how when he got away from her he felt like he could breathe for the first time

and actually, often, they end up crying together over their mugs of tea, but they feel better for it, always.

and stan couldn’t be happier to have found a friend like that.

one afternoon eddie reaches out, touches his hand and just lingers before he leaves and stan’s heart doesn’t slow down again for hours.

eddie comes around more often, even without reason, it seems.

and stan’s confused about that, but happy.

richie’s still super got it bad for eddie, though, so he’s around a lot often more, much to stan’s annoyance.

stan almost tells richie about how he feels about eddie, but richie beats him to it by talking about how he wants to ask eddie out and stan, even though he knows he shouldn’t, feels betrayed.

(i know that he won’t love you like i love you)

they end up arguing about it and it ends with stan yelling at richie that he should just fucking do it, then! and richie leaves.

and the next friday eddie comes to his door to tell him about how richie asked him out and how weird it is because he was sure he’d get with bill but you know it’s surprising but he’s happy about it!

and stan realises he said yes and eddie doesn’t love stan.

and that hurts

but he sits and he drinks tea because eddie is still his friend

but eventually he begins to feel hollow and he distances himself from eddie, who’s spending so much time with richie that it hurts stan

he distances himself from richie, too

and bill, who he’s become friendly with

and he calls mike, crying one night because he’s worried he’s gonna do something stupid

and mike comes and holds him as he shakes.

and stan stays with mike and his boyfriend, ben, and girlfriend beverly, for a couple of months and he becomes very close with that group.

in fact he even seems to be doing really well again

so he goes home

and he still doesn’t speak to eddie often, but he waves when he’s gardening

and sometimes they have tea

and he feels alright

but his heart still hurts when he thinks of eddie with anyone that isn’t him

he shouldn’t feel like that, he really shouldnt

he bites his tongue and he’s ,,, okay

for a couple of years it’s okay, still.

and then richie and eddie get engaged and stan spirals again

and this time when he wants to do something stupid he doesn’t call mike, or ben, or bev. he doesn’t call richie and he doesn’t call bill. he doesn’t go to eddie’s, sit with him and talk it out.

(‘cause if you’re gonna take forever, i hope i live forever less a day)

he runs a bath, just a little too hot so he leaves it to cool.

and while he waits he cleans.

and then he gets in, breathing steady and calm.

his bathroom has a great view of eddie’s house, and eddie’s cat watches him from the window.

he grabs his phone from the towel next to the bath and leaves eddie a text.

“i’m going away for a little while, can you take care of esme?”

he’s not cruel enough to leave his cat without care.

not at all.

and then he picks up the razor and facilitates his exit.

(‘cause i can’t live without you next to me)

eddie’s the first to notice it’s strange when stan doesn’t reply after his “sure!”

because stan hates leaving things unfinished and he tries to text back as soon as possible.

but it’s been a few hours.

he has a spare key, so he heads over.

and when he gets no response he’s afraid. stan’s car is in the driveway, so he’s home. so eddie calls the police, just in case.

and when they find stan he breaks down

because he loves richie but he’s always loved stan so, so much too

and if stan had’ve ever loved him back he’d have been there, forever, he knows. he promises. stan we can do this over again just please come home.

esme misses you. richie misses you. i miss you.

everyone misses you stan.

come home, stan.

Summary: Richie Tozier and Eddie Kaspbrak are different sides to the same coin. They are in a rather sticky predicament, both are hopelessly in love with their best friend. One problem, their best friends are dating. Stan and Bill seem happy and in love, flaunting their relationship for everyone to see. It just isn’t fair, not one bit. So the two come to an agreement, deciding that there is no point in suffering alone. They aren’t dating, no never that, it’s only physical and it’s only to ease their broken hearts. Nevermind that they get along so well or that their lingering touches burn their skin. No. It’s just an agreement, an understanding if you will, this isn’t anything more than a means of forgetting. Right?

There was a slight pinch in his back as it hit the wall, his mouth opening to cry out a protest only to be cut short by a pair of lips that connected to his. His breath hitched in the back of his throat, the feeling of a tongue along his bottom lip making him moan rather loudly. This excited his lover, and as hands began to roam the heat began to build until it was almost too unbearable. Quickly things began to be removed, first his shirt and then his pants. A trail of clothes followed them into the bedroom where his knees hit the mattress, and before he could process another thought, strong hands were pressing against his chest, forcing him down.

His body bounced slightly and his arms reached up to pull his lover down with him. Richie obeyed, moving past his lips and planting heated kisses into the crevice of his neck. Eddie whimpered when he bit down, hard, sucking vigorously at the tender flesh. “N-No.” He managed to choke, pulling on the taller man’s shoulders. “No more where people can see.”

Richie lifted his head and looked at him, his eyes dark and devious. “Alright princess, don’t get your panties into a bunch.” He whispered, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. Eddie scowled, unamused. “Oh did I hurt your feelings?”

Stan: Really?

Richie: Yes.

Stan: You accidentally made out with Eddie.

Richie: Yes.
