Can we talk about the slick, little nugget of symbolism Suzanne put in by having Peeta and Haymitch play chess together? Because is that not what those two stayed doing the entire series? Playing chess while the Capitol played checkers? I just love that seemingly tiny detail and head-canon that they will keep a weekly tradition of it going until Haymitch passes on. It’s their go-to, adoptive father/son bonding time.
