it's really funny you say that because i feel the exact same way about anything guillermo del toro does so frankenstein? instantly obsessed. you did amazing with it. you're really killing it as one of this decades scream queens. glad you've been looking over my filmography; if you watch anything else, i hope you end up enjoying it just as much as you did queer. do you have anything new coming out this year??

i feel like we're all on that same guillermo del toro train since everything he does is exquisite, and i'm still pinching myself to have worked with him on a project, let alone his dream one. thank so you much, love, and that makes my aspiring scream queen heart so happy to hear. is there another project that meant a lot to you, that i should watch before anything else? i'll be in odyssey, which still can't believe i can say that, but i hope you're planning on watching!

i feel like you exist in movies the same way thunderstorms exist in real life. like there’s always this intensity underneath everything, even when you’re completely still. every time i watch one of your performances i end up thinking about it for days afterward, which honestly feels a little rude of you. also i need to know what it feels like to casually become the face of modern horror while somehow still feeling impossibly elegant all the time. if i were in one horror movie i think i’d spend the entire filming process apologizing to furniture and crying in dim lighting. do you tend to give everyone compliments that level their brains in the best way, or am i just lucky right now?! thank you so much, love, and i can't tell you how much that means to me when a lot of literal blood, sweat, and tears go into those performances. i'm elated they have any effect at all, let alone lingering with someone for days at a time. that's certainly the goal, to be the person anyone thinks about when they think of horror movies and elegance. feels a bit like elevated scream queen status. who says crying in the dark and talking to furniture isn't part of my process though? you'd probably be great in a horror film! does that mean you've thought about acting, or have you been in any projects i need to see?

and for that, I am genuinely sorry. if I had it my way, those people would be able to experience what those lucky few already have. here's hoping that they do in the near future. I mean, the reviews that do reach me are often vetted by my team. so I know they're written in good faith. otherwise, I would drive myself crazy over every bit of praise and criticism that comes my way. so, it's probably best that you don't read your own. of course. even if it's another play or musical, I'd be happy to make myself home in new york. very true. would also love the opportunity of doing more TV. I had an absolute blast starring in the new daniel radcliffe series. fingers crossed they call me back.

See, we’re literally neighboring countries away from each other. People do longer commutes for less important things than us drinking wine near a beach together. Filming’s been really good, actually. I’m here doing Three Incestuous Sisters with Saoirse, Jessie Bluckley and Isabella Rossellini, which still feels slightly insane to say out loud. Every day I have at least one moment where I’m like… okay, this cannot be my real life. And you filming near beaches sounds like a dream and I'm so jealous right now. But yes, I’m absolutely taking advantage of your offer. What about you though? What are you filming and how's everything going?

which just means we have to take advantage as often as possible while we're both working! after all, it's good to balance all the working hours with some fun, wouldn't you say? that's wonderful, and just look at that cast! you know i'll be over the moon to see three incestuous sisters when it comes out. you say that, though i just see talent working with talent since i could sing about yours for days on end. though i sort of know what you mean since i regularly pinch myself for getting to work with justine triet, who is just a dream director. perfect! we can hang out on the beach here, and i'll visit you there in italy after. what do you think of us doing a restaurant crawl since italy does food so well? plus can't think of anything better than the best food and company at once. filming isn't going too badly! i'm out of the first few weeks of filming jitters, so i feel like i can finally enjoy myself a little.

you know i absolutely agree with you on that, love! it needs to stop so we can have a little vacation all to ourselves! which absolutely means we should make paris happen soon since i’d love running around the city with you. we can make it our own modern film, ride around on vespas, shop, dine at the fanciest restaurants, the whole nine.

when i think about movies that have crazy ass plot twists, do you know what comes to mind? marrowbone. still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor from that one and its been years since i first watched. nice to see the entire cast has blown up since then. do you keep in touch with any of them or nah?

admittedly love a film with a good plot twist myself, so your enjoying one of mine solely for that means you're one of my new favorite people, love. and marrowbone is so close to my heart, too. aside from anya since we're practically sisters, i haven't kept in touch with all of them as much as i'd like. but it's all love when we're in the same rooms, and i feel like it's the best support there is, you know? a beautiful project with beautiful memories. is that mostly the types of films you like to watch, horror?

No worries, I know how easy it is to accidentally disappear into work for a while, especially when filming starts taking over your entire brain and suddenly weeks pass without you realising it. Had it happen to me plenty, so I wouldn't give you grief about it! Though I doubt they would fire you. I'm just glad things have settled down for you a bit now and that you reached out. Life's actually been pretty good on my end, quiet, mostly. I enjoy being a hermit more than I probably should, to be frank with you. And absolutely yes to sharing wine in Napa and having a proper catch-up! That sounds significantly better than a gift basket anyway, although if you do show up with one I wouldn't complain either, do with that what you will.

How does it feel being this generations favourite scream queen? Now, horror movies tend to freak me out, but when I do eventually build uo the courage to watch one, I can't help but feel like each film could be elevated, if only the casting directors had thought to bring you on board.
