😋 Happy Friendship Day, fam!! 😋
Astrology masterlist
As I was making a collage for my friends I was struck with this astrology friends muse so here we go
♏🔴💣First up is funny man, Chandler Bing
❤️💣 ♏I see Chandler as having a Jyeshtha (Scorpio) moon. He had a difficult childhood. With a Glitterattzi mom and a drag Queen(King?) dad, in a time when the LGBTQ+ community was mostly underground / under persecution in most parts of the world. Children and people in general can be extremely rude and unaccepting of differences. Heck, femininity is still mocked in certain circles today so it must have been a lot worse in the 70s/80s 🙄
The actor has his Ketu (south node) the planet of detachment in the 2nd house which not only shows your personal hoard of 👑📿👒💎money / assets, but it also represents your personal values. It's interesting that his best known character is a detached / funny man. It's such a SouthNode in LEO thing to have.i'd be down voted to oblivion if i were that sarcastic, but ON Chandler it's oddly charming (Leo trait)
His moon being In Jyeshtha, is in mercury ruled Nakshatra. Who is famous for witty comebacks and also helping the authors with the Script?
Scorpio men can be extremely quiet with their feelings. Remember that episode where he was terrified he couldn't cry? Almost like he was scared of himself terrified of marriage cuz he knew Monica deserved to be loved with warmth. Monica literally went ' if we get married and you don't cry, I won't mind. If we have babies and you don't cry I'd be fine. And if i die, and you find a little love note from me years after I'm gone and you still don't shed a tear I'd be fine' his walls were so high that he wasn't really eeling the words. Theres almost a clinical quality to thinking about emotions. (Mercury ruled moon. Mercury is rational logic. It's the business / numbers / financial calculations related planet. )
Just look at this man with his babies ❤️ Scorpio moon's could have a hard time dealing or acknowledging their emotions but there's nothing they wouldn't do for those they love. They're generous with their love, affection, criticism and money but they have to let their walls crumble. Sit with their emotions and feel them. It's okay to do so in a quiet corner or with people you feel safe to be vulnerable with. Trust, or as I like to say, PERMANENCE takes time to build.
FUnfact: babies are born with no sense of object permanence. They actually believe objects vanish when they can't see them anymore. Your feelings won't magically disappear just because you cover them up with scathing words. I see right through you
There's this one episode where Chandler literally invents a game to help out his Sag dominant friend (aka Joey, more on that coming up ). Scorpios work in stealth mode. He has a boring bankers job(sorry bankers, I'm Not sayin y'all all boring, it's just not as flashy as Joey's flamethrowing stints.) Because he craves stability. Scorpio and Taurus are the wealth/ security/ stability axis. The actor has saturn in the 10th in Aries y'all. It is surprisingly good casting. The briefcase job really hits the brief. Remember that time he started a job as an intern, had to come up with a logo for skateboards competing with young (Aries) interns? He came up with this is 'adult proof fun' he literally used the fact that he was the old guy to do his job well. I feel like this is something everyone WITH saturn IN Aries can take notes from

If you wanna send me a tip, here's my paypal
yooo how do u email a prof for a recommendation letter?
Hi Professor!
I am in the process of applying to ____ and they require letters of rec. I sincerely enjoyed your classes, and felt that they gave me a particularly good chance to display my strengths, such as ____ [class participation, writing, etc.] and would love for you to write me a letter, if you’d be willing. The due date is ____, and I can send you further instructions for submission later if you accept.
Attached to this email is ____, the piece of work I did in your class which best showcases my abilities, as well as my current CV [or resume]. If you agree to write me a letter, soon I will also send you drafts of my ____ [statement of purpose, personal statement, application essays, other relevant material] for my application to aid in your writing. I am also happy to meet in person to discuss this with you.
I want to stress that this application is quite competitive, so if you feel you will not be able to write me a strong letter then I completely understand - but please let me know. Thank you so much for your time!
Sincerely, ____
—
a few notes:
- you should have all your relevant materials (app essays, etc.) sent to them *at least* a month in advance to give them ample time to write the letter
- thus, your initial email asking them if they’d be willing to write a letter for you should be sent *over* a month in advance. professors are busy
- if you are applying for a really prestigious position/scholarship/fellowship, or grad school, it’s best to have at least a majority of your letter writers be professors (rather than adjuncts or post docs). ideally you’d want them to be full/tenured professors. in lots of cases, especially academic ones, *who* writes your letter matters - not just *what’s in* your letter
- the reason you send them the piece of work you did in their class that you are most proud of is to remind them of your abilities as a student and the quality of the work you produced for them. they have lots of students. sometimes they need a bit of help jogging their memory of exactly what you did in their class.
- the reason you send them your other application materials (personal statement, statement of purpose, CV) is so that they have information to draw from when writing your letter. they know what you’re passionate about, what you hope to do in the future, other experience you have, and can use this information when writing your letter
- on a similar note, this is also why you’d want to list the strengths you displayed in their class
- basically, you want to give them as much information as you can about your strengths, goals, and intentions - give them prompts they can use to write your letter
- the bit at the end about asking for a “strong letter” is important because some professors can only write you mediocre letters (e.g. “this student was always on time to class and gave their undivided attention during lecture” - what does this tell admission committees? well, it tells them that the professor has nothing positive to say about your *academic* abilities and so they’re resorting to other strengths. it’s a polite way of saying “this student was okay, but not spectacular in any notable way”. big red flag for admissions committees.) if all you’re going to get is a mediocre letter, you might as well not get a letter at all
- if the professor you ask accepts, then be sure to send them polite reminders as the date approaches. (i usually send a reminder at the 1-month-till-due-date mark when i send the other application materials, and then again at the 2 week and 1 week marks, and, if necessary, every day after the final 3 days leading up to the due date
—
i know this was a lot, but i remember being in your shoes and being completely lost when it came to applying for stuff so i know how daunting it can be. i figured i’d just throw all this information at you to be of as much help as possible.
for reference, i’ve applied to graduate programs, fellowships, and scholarships. i have been accepted into several of the top 10 graduate programs in my area, as well as received multiple scholarships and a fellowship, and received honorable mentions for some of the most competitive fellowships in the US. i have also worked with the admissions committee at my graduate program to organize multiple informational events for those interested in applying to graduate school and, in the process, have learned a lot about what makes a strong application.
so while you should absolutely take my advice with a grain of salt (different circumstances call for different standards), i do have quite a bit of experience with applications and what makes a strong letter of rec.
i hope this helped! best of luck with whatever you’re applying for :)
i’d also like to add that it helps to ask in person or over a zoom call, but emails are nice too as long as they look like this!
I’d also like to add that you should choose profs who can attest to different strengths. For example, one of my recommenders was someone I grew a close bond to so she was able to talk about my personality and dedication. Another person talked about my class participation in their seminar class and how I contributed to the overall class discussion. The last professor taught my capstone class where I wrote a 10 page research paper about a topic of my choice, she was able to speak on my writing and research abilities.
Do you have any tips to help with procrastination or lack of motivation?
oh boy it seems like i should be the one to ask this lol
that being said, i have been getting stuff done lately, so i’ll give you some tips that work for me:
1. make a weekly list stating what are you planning to do each day of the week
2. try to leave a day for resting, seriously you’re gonna need it if you are in college
3. take breaks in between, I always work for one hour and take a break for 10 minutes
4. take stretch breaks
5. try not too drink too much coffee, even at night
6. work with friends if you can, it will keep your motivation going
7. change where you are working every once in a while
8. If there is some big project you have to work in, work in bits. Make a checklist and take breaks in between
thats what works for me at least!!! and dont feel bad if you feel like these tips dont work for you, we all function differently!
one more thing! if there is something you need to read digitally and you feel like it is too long, copy and paste the text into a document a break it into bits, it is much easier to process!

If I were rich here’s what I’d do with my free time okay Mermaid pranks Let me explain. So, I’d get one of those super fancy mermaid tails, like those sick as hell silicone ones that has the super long thick tail that uses like, toe pullies and stuff to make the fins move in cool and impossible ways. like this
(source)
And I would go all fucking out on this fit okay. We’re talking diving lessons until I can hold my breath for 7 minutes and go deep as fuck. Long hair, starfish, scales up to my tits, those funky contacts that make it so you can see under water, all of it- everything I could to make myself look as “thing of the deep but hot” as possible. Then, I’d go get some shiny valuable rocks. Pearls, Uncut gems, like super fuck’n nice ones like diamonds and shit, and ofc some gold coins. Then I’d dawn my mermaid fit and hit public waterways. Rivers, beys, lakes, places where people are around and might be swimming, but where I’m not gonna die via boat propeller, and not super crowded areas where a lot of people are swimming. Then I just prank people by poking my head out of the water and surprising them, then I motion them closer and reach into my hair or satchel or something and give them a fucking emerald, smiling all big the whole time then I just- swim the fuck away. What the fuck they gonna do now!? Keep it as a fun memory of that time a fuck’n mermaid larper gave them a shiny rock? Never know it’s actually valuable? Or do they take it to a jeweler and find out it’s real? How the fuck are they gonna explain that. They gonna tell the jeweler a fuck’n mermaid gave it to them?! I think the fuck not. Gonna pop up at the peir and smile at people and give gold coins to whoever stops. Kids are gonna freak. Put a little wonder back in the world. Flirt with pretty girls. Swim down rivers, pop up and surprise some old lady sitting by the water and give her an uncut diamond then swim away without a word.
Get a reputation as the weird lesbian mermaid who gives out precious gems and never speaks then suddenly stop without warning for like three years to give people time to forget me then do it all again.
Please watch Sam Okyere tell about how he was discriminated for his skin color in South Korea.
kpop fans watch this
i always reblog this. its too important not to
why am i crying?
Because antiblackness is real and now people have to come to terms it.
Anti black racism is global
This breaks my heart. Poor guy…
I’m so glad that he’s speaking out and influencing people to be considerate and you know, not racist.
for people who aren’t into kpop or korean media since a few months ago sam okyere has been dealing with a lot of korean backlash bc he spoke out about blackface that a bunch of highschoolers were doing. he was made to apologize he deleted his social media bc of all the shit he was getting. some people started a petition to get him deported. all because he said korea needs to educate itself on its racism and cultural appropriation. and people said he was attacking korea and bringing shame to the country and he should be grateful bc korea gave him a career and all this shit while commenting the most racist and stereotypical shit towards him and other black people. other high school classes even did more blackface and were tagging him in the posts. i haven’t been paying the closest attention to whats happened since but I used to see him a lot more in the stuff I was watching and on my tl than I do now so im guessing things are ongoing for him. so if you could support more videos of him speaking out about black lives matter and the racism in korea and what he dealt with when he started working there/what he still deals with now thatd be great. and if he does come back to social media follow him or like his posts. or if you could just send some positive thoughts and vibes his way because he really doesn’t deserve all the shit he’s been getting.
study with adhd
Hi, it’s werelivingarts. I’ve been creating contents about academic life, but I realize that I leave out many students who are having ADHD that can make studying very challenging. I’m a no expert in this field, but I’ve been researching some tips that ADHD students find useful. Therefore, I really hope that some of the tips can help you to make studying less boring and easier! ❤️
Remember: Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re being silly, or lazy, or fussing over nothing. They are trying to apply rules that work for standard brains. You don’t need to explain anything, it is nobody’s business but yours. Don’t let anybody shame you or push you around. All you need to do is smile and say, “Well, it works for me.” 💙💜💻

Episode 1-3 / Grammar / Action Verb to Adjective, -셈이다, (으)ㄴ 가(요)
All of the grammar forms that we’ll go through in this lesson focus on adjectives. It can be quite useful to go through them together to see how being able to change action verbs to adjectives is important, and how some grammar rules can only be used with adjectives.
Action Verb to Adjective (는/ㄴ/은/ㄹ/을)
This rule is fairly straightforward, but can be difficult to get right in practise. The way to change an AV to an adjective differs depending on the tense and the end letter. For past tense, ㄴ/은 is used. ㄴ is used if the last letter is a vowel, and 은 is used if it’s a consonant. Most verbs end in a vowel, so there are verb few times when you would need to use 은. The book I wrote is very good. 제가 쓴 책이 아주 좋아요. To change an AV to an adjective in the present tense, 는 is used. I want to become a person who speaks Korean well. 저는 한국어를 잘하는 사람이 되고 싶어요. For future tense usage, ㄹ/을 is used, similarly to how you would use (으)ㄹ 거예요. ㄹ is used if the final letter is a vowel and 을 is used if it’s a consonant. I’m looking for someone who will go with me. 같이 갈 사람을 찾고 있어요.
-셈이다
-셈이다 can be a difficult grammatical rule to learn, since you have to have a good understanding of the AV to adjective rule first. This is because if has to be added to an adjective. Anything else won’t make sense. Another reason why this principle can be difficult to learn is that there are quite a few ways that -셈이다 can be translated, since it doesn’t have any direct translation in English. You could used it to mean I’d say that, you could say that, it seems like, it’s more or less, or it’s almost as though. I’ve lived in Seoul for so long, it’s almost like it’s my hometown. 서울서 이렇게 오래 살았으니, 이제 나의 고향은 서울이 되는 셈이에요. They go once a year so you could say that they don’t really go at all. 일 년에 한 번 정도 가니까 거의 안 가는 셈이네요. If the future tense ㄹ/을 is used, the meaning changes to ‘to intend to’ or ‘to plan to’. I planned to study abroad. 유학을 갈 셈이었다. Does he plan to travel the whole country? 전국을 다 돌 셈인가? The usage of -셈이다 in the line said here by Kyu-sik is a little confusing. The verb used is 돌다, so it seems as if nothing is changed, however, it actually uses the ㄹ irregular conjugation, where the the ㄹ is dropped from the verb and the grammar is then added.
-(으)ㄴ 가 (요)
This grammar is fairly simple to use, since all it does is change the sentence into a question asked in a very gentle way or with some caution. The difficult part of it’s usage is that again, it can only be used with adjectives in present tense. Let’s say there’s a situation where you need help from someone who has been under a lot of stress and don’t really want to bother them. You could use it here to ask: Are you busy? 바쁜가요? This grammar could also be used if someone you know has gone through a tough time and you want to ask them how they’re feeling whilst taking into account that they probably still feel bad: How are you? 어떤가요? A good way to figure out whether to use this grammar would be to ask yourself, would you say it in a more hushed voice in English? If you would, then it’s probably appropriate to use. This is why Kyu-sik uses it here. He’s trying to be funny but he knows that Do-yeon likes Dae-young and will get mad if she hears anyone make fun of him, so he’s softening the question to make her less angry.
While watching the Tinkerbell film franchise we can see that pixie hollow functions differently to our own society, for example while all the fairys work in assigned jobs, we never see any evidence that they receive money for their work, furthermore we never see any fairys spending money, however they seem to have all their essentials provided for them. When Tinkerbell arrives at pixie hollow she is assigned a house, and we see that each fairy receives a daily ration of pixie dust. Even when Tinkerbell abandons her job in the first movie we still see her receiving pixie dust. By watching the films critically we can deduce that pixie hollow is a communist utopia that uses no form of currency. In this essay I will

Do you ever think you'll stop drawing fanart? No offense it just seems like the kind of thing you're supposed to grow out of. I'm just curious what your plans/goals are since it isn't exactly an art form that people take seriously.
Ah, fanart. Also known as the art that girls make.
Sad, immature girls no one takes seriously. Girls who are taught that it’s shameful to be excited or passionate about anything, that it’s pathetic to gush about what attracts them, that it’s wrong to be a geek, that they should feel embarrassed about having a crush, that they’re not allowed to gaze or stare or wish or desire. Girls who need to grow out of it.
That’s the art you mean, right?
Because in my experience, when grown men make it, nobody calls it fanart. They just call it art. And everyone takes it very seriously.
It’s interesting though — the culture of shame surrounding adult women and fandom. Even within fandom it’s heavily internalized: unsurprisingly, mind, given that fandom is largely comprised by young girls and, unfortunately, our culture runs on ensuring young girls internalize *all* messages no matter how toxic. But here’s another way of thinking about it.
Sports is a fandom. It requires zealous attention to “seasons,” knowledge of details considered obscure to those not involved in that fandom, unbelievable amounts of merchandise, and even “fanfic” in the form of fantasy teams. But this is a masculine-coded fandom. And as such, it’s encouraged - built into our economy! Have you *seen* Dish network’s “ultimate fan” advertisements, which literally base selling of a product around the normalization of all consuming (male) obsession? Or the very existence of sports bars, built around the link between fans and community enjoyment and analysis. Sport fandom is so ingrained in our culture that major events are treated like holidays (my gym closes for the Super Bowl) — and can you imagine being laughed at for admitting you didn’t know the difference between Supernatural and The X Files the way you might if you admit you don’t know the rules of football vs baseball, or basketball?
“Fandom” is not childish but we live in a culture that commodified women’s time in such away that their hobbies have to be “frivolous,” because “mature” women’s interests are supposed to be marriage, family, and overall care taking: things that allow others to continue their own special interests, while leaving women without a space of their own.
So think about what you’re actually saying when you call someone “too old” for fandom. Because you’re suggesting they are “too old” for a consuming hobby, and I challenge you to answer — what do you think they should be doing instead?
#I love the fact I’m ‘weird’ for writing fic but some guy painting a team logo on his beer belly is normal

This whole modern approach is also seriously undermining just how important fanfiction is - from a historical standpoint.
The concept of fanfiction formed and forged the earliest stages of literature in Europe. Because the majority of authors in France, Germany and Great Britain looked at that funky little Celtic dude Arthur and thought “hey, he’s neat. I wanna write about him”.
The entire concept of a book outside of religious purposes was born out of fanfiction in my country.
There is no “first canon” for Arthur where he came as the prince of Camelot, with his sidekicks Lancelot and Merlin and his endgame love interest Gwen.
Arthur was some random hunter when he started out.
Someone’s fanfiction made him a prince.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him a round table.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him Merlin at his side.
Someone else’s fanfiction gave him Morgana, gave him Gwen, gave him his swords.
And, to this day, we still write Arthurian fanfiction. Literally last year there was a movie adaptation that is, by all intends and purposes, fanfiction, because it wasn’t even close to a literal adaptation of the source material (The Kid Who Would Be King). Heck, BBC’s Merlin, itself an Arthurian fanfiction, remains one of the biggest fandoms that people today write for on AO3.
You were a joke in the middle ages if you tried to write your own stuff. Who’s interested in your stuff? You were only a respected author if you wrote fanfiction. The most famous medieval German authors are famous because they wrote fanfiction about some knightly OCs they created who served on Arthur’s court. That is the literary legacy of the middle ages. Arthurian fanfiction.
Yet somewhere along the way, this concept of “I find x story/element cool and want to elaborate on it more, shift the focus onto an aspect of this original source material” has gotten this “eh, it’s fanfiction” connotation and lost respect.
Even though this very concept is still being used - even outside of the actual medium of fanfiction - and it is still being used for the very same purpose it was used for in medieval times. Original movies often don’t get as much recognition as adaptations of existing source material that the audience is familiar with. People see a movie about a character they’re familiar with and seem more inclined to buy a ticket to see the 10th new interpretation of Batman or Superman or Snow White. How are these new interpretations of familiar source material that usually add to the lore, reinterpret characterizations and dynamics, any different from fanfiction?
But heaven forbid we call The Dark Knight Nolan’s Batman fanfiction. No, fanfiction is that silly thing that we can’t take seriously, but that new Joker movie, that however is high-end art.
SO IMPORTANT
This. Fanfiction is variations on an existing theme, simultaneously making use of and satisfying people’s existing love for a story that they’re happy to consume more of, and cultivating the synergy between an existing story/mythos and a new author who, in interacting with characters they’d never have created themselves, creates something that neither they nor any of the story’s previous tellers could have made all by themselves.
Fanfiction is the new whole being greater than the sum of its parts, and fanfiction is the story being made limitless, retelling by retelling, and it is wonderful.
It’s also worth noting that Batman himself only came into being because of The Scarlet Pimpernel, a series of books about an extravagantly rich foppish playboy by day, daring hero in disguise by night (I mean, loosely. He also fopped by night and heroed by day, but you get my drift). Written by a woman no less.
Batman is a transformative work with a modernised crime-fighting SP but also borrowing strongly from earlier comic books, and yet it is seen as definitive.
Coming back here to say that I think the derision for fanart also has some of its roots in our capitalist hellscape.
It’s the age old “If thing not make you money, why you care about thing?” that’s so prevalent in the system. Of course some people do make money with their fanart, but I think that is still part of the scorn.
It’s supposed to be something you do not just for fun, but for practice, people like this think. Once you’re good at it, you can drop it and make money by focusing on your OCs and original work!

Couldn’t agree more. Fan art and fic are absolutely valid. We really need to stop putting an age limit on fun as well!
Funnily enough, my Mum sent me this just today. It was in the front of the Doctor Who book she’d just purchased. (My Mum’s in her 70btw… tell her she’s too old for fandom, I dare you…)
Fandom, fanart, and fanfiction is for everyone. No, it isn’t something you “have” to grow out of. If it brings you joy, then who cares?
