Y’all “Gotham” did NOT age well in the age of “police brutality is bad.”
Here are some civil liberties that the GCPD seems to have forgotten:
Fourth amendment: don’t break into people’s houses to look for clues without a warrant. Don’t take stuff from people without permission or a warrant. None of that evidence should hold up in court.
Fifth amendment: you need to give people just compensation for what you took from them, including evidence, and everyone is entitled to due process of law.
Sixth amendment: you can’t bring people to the precinct without telling them the accusation leveled against them. Sweet habeas corpus. And people need to be provided with lawyers when they’re accused.
Eighth amendment: don’t torture people. That includes throwing them out windows, punching them, shooting them, and/or otherwise threatening to hurt them in any way.
