Wow, just dug up this photo of Katherine @katherineschwarzenegger I met her at the amazing "Women's Conference," at the Long Beach Convention Center, that was held by the 1st Lady of California, Maria Shriver @mariashriver in October 2008!!! The keynote speeches and breakout sessions and meeting of minds was incredible over the years. Wish it was still held. Maria signed a book for me after her emotional speech about her "mummy," (sniff sniff I have video on YouTube) and now her daughter, Katherine signed her book, "Maverick and Me," for me last Sunday. One of the books that I wanted to read over this Summer was "How to Write a Children's Book." I became intrigued with other books on my long reading list, and sadly this book was set aside on my "must read," pile. Well today I went to @katherineschwarzenegger book signing and I purchased her latest book #maverickandme I started reading her book about pet adoptions and it totally reminded me of how I went to West LA Animal shelter almost 15 years ago and adopted my luvabull, adorabull, hugabull, pitbull, Indy!!! Indy and I had many great adventures. While reading Katherine's "Maverick and Me," I became compelled to start writing Indy's story. Today's book signing took place at the Annenberg PetSpace. Ironically, when Indy was a volunteer (animal assisted therapy dog) at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, her miracle story was the basis for a grant received from....you got it.... the Annenberg foundation. Shiggy, it's time to write the story. (My second book. First children's book.) It'll make you cry. Indy's Story makes me swell up, though, as they say, there can't be rainbows without rain. Tears of rain. Will start writing right meow!! Thank you Katherine for the inspiration. (And for telling me your favorite word!!) Fantastic book. OMG OMG OMG, pinch me. I think my mom (RIP) would be proud. I get to shoot LIVING LEGENDS for my career. Tim Howard (USA Goalie,) Giovani "Gio" Dos Santos (LA Galaxy Superstar,) Kaká (27.7 million Twitter followers, HUGE in Brasil,) and David Villa (8.2million Twitter followers from Spain.) I signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) stating that I can't post/talk about/publish/write about this photoshoot until the photos became public. Now they are out-in-the-open, I'm SOOOOO happy that I can publish these photos to my social media. One of THE biggest power tool company in the World, Makita, (YES, the one that you see everywhere at Home Depot,) with a whooping annual sales of over $2.9 BILLION dollars, hired me to do a commercial photoshoot. Makita is a sponsor for Major League Soccer (MLS.) (Y'up, I bought a Makita drill nine years ago!!) I worked with a GREAT team and worked with real great friends on this two day shoot. The players were awesome, spontaneous and dedicated to making the shoot work. I thought I had about 5 minutes with each player. Turns out I had, in one case, about 45 seconds to nail each pose. This is the big leagues. No messing around. Professional. Get the job done. No second takes. No second chances. Nail it. Go big or go home. Precision. Accuracy. And have fun at the same time. The player has about 10 people looking at him during the shoot, including managers and organizers. I'm sure they are nervous as they handle the ball or handle the power tool. It was my job in a very, very, very short time to make them feel relaxed, yet confident, and smiley, all at the same time. Mission accomplished. As a professional photographer, I do shoots on boats, in the air, on a bike, on the sand. Up mountains. Down rivers. In 5 Star/5 Diamond posh hotels and resorts. At weddings. At Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. At various types of Events. I shoot Head shots and Portraits. I shoot for big corporations, for attorneys and for one-person-run, small businesses. I get hired by commercial clients and get commissioned by celebrities. I've been very fortunate over the years not to have any incidences. No matter how careful I am, and no matter how much safety is of importance to me, it's not a question of "what if," rather, it's a question of, "when?" When an accident happens, then what? A client may not be paying attention and walk straight into a light stand. At a wedding, a little kiddo may accidentally trip over a camera bag. Then what? You want your Wedding at a hotel, however, they require all vendors (photographers) to carry a $1 million dollar liability insurance, then what? Rest assured, I have purchased a $1 million liability insurance policy through the reputable, Hill & Usher. I need to have insurance, not only for my $$$$$$ equipment, but also, in case someone gets injured while on my shoot. Having your photographer have insurance for photography and photographic services is great peace of mind for you. I care and I HAVE YOUR BACK.
