December 15: On this day in 1890, Tatanka Iyotanka (Sitting Bull), the Hunkpapa Lakota Chief, Statesman & Holyman was assassinated by police while being arrested at his home on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.

The government was afraid of his power & influence & the ghost dance movement.
