Hancock chuckled, and your heart jumped in your chest. 

You and Hancock had a strange relationship. At first, you didn’t really like him. The way he towered over people from his balcony, and rewarded them with free chems for answering simple questions as if they were dogs doing tricks he taught them rubbed you the wrong way. So when Bobbi tricked you into raiding Hancock’s strongroom, you stuck with her. You thought you’d no longer be welcome in Goodneighbor after killing Fahrenheit, but Hancock was strangely chill about it. That was when your dynamic changed: He ordered you to kill Bobbi. It was intimidating, threatening even. But it was the first time you understood why people were attracted to him. You’ve been traveling together ever since and unfortunately, you never saw that side of him again, until now maybe?

“You know damn well I don’t tolerate people stealing from me. Now if this was your first offense against me, I’d let it go, but it’s not, is it? Can’t have this turning into a habit.” 

Your heart was racing now. 

“So what will you do about it?” You said it in a challenging way, but you were full-on ready to obey his every command. 

“Good question.” Hancock took the jet from your hand and created some distance between you two. He leaned against the couch and crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze was stuck on you. “How about some community work, huh? Heard Daisy could use help dealing with some bigots.”

Community work??? If this was a movie scene, the music would now be cut off abruptly by a record scratch. 

“You’re joking,” you deadpanned. 

“I’m not. Now get out of my sight.” 

You didn’t move, however. Stubbornly, you crossed your arms over your chest and pulled your eyebrows up at him. “And what if I refuse?”

Hancock chuckled and looked down to the ground. Your heart was racing, anticipating his every move. You knew you’d be in real danger if you pissed him off too much, but this entire argument was about 1 canister of jet, so you were pretty sure it wasn’t going to escalate. “I’m tired, sweetheart. Let’s not do this.” 

“Come on, Hancock, it’s one canister of jet that I didn’t even use. You’re the one making a big deal out of this.” 

“You know what, you’re right,” he said. No. No, no, no. “I guess I really am tired. I’ll let it go this time, just don’t do it again.” 

You almost sighed out loud. This was not how it was supposed to go… Guess you’d have to steal from him again…

A few days passed. The two of you were still in Goodneighbor and random chems kept mysteriously disappearing from Hancock’s stash. Of course, he suspected you, but you deliberately had been sneaky about it to rile him up. 

Now it was finally time to let him catch you. You took some jet - as that was the chem that had started this all - and kept it in your pockets to use at the perfect time. That time was now: You were hanging around Hancock’s bedroom, door wide open, and had just heard him come up the stairs. 

“Are you deliberately trying to piss me off?” 

You turned to Hancock who was leaning against the door post with his arms crossed over his chest. You had just taken a hit and let out a relieved exhale before throwing the empty canister of jet to the ground. 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” 

Hancock chuckled lowly and pushed himself away from the doorpost, after which he started to approach you. Your heart was racing in your chest. This time, you couldn’t screw up.

“Which part of ‘don’t steal from me’ is too hard for you to understand, sweetheart?” 

“Oh you said ‘don’t’? I must’ve misunderstood,” Your tone was dripping with dishonesty. “Thought you were all about sharing.” 

“Do we have a problem here?” It wasn’t clear if it was supposed to sound threatening or if he genuinely wondered if things had gone south between you two. But one thing was obvious: He still wasn’t catching on. 

“A problem? Us? I don’t think so,” you said innocently. Then you took a step towards him. Your bodies were almost touching now and you let one of your hands rest on his chest. You were done being subtle. You thought he’d figure things out quickly, but so far it had failed so it was time to just make things plain obvious. “But it seems you’ve been having trouble with some chem thief. You should do something about that.” 

Hancock hummed. "And seeing as you're always so helpful, I'm sure you've got some suggestions for handling this thief?"

You bit your lip and let your hand slowly travel down his body. Though you were behaving confidently, deep down you were a nervous wreck. "I guess you could punish them."

You could see it in his eyes: a sudden realization. He had finally put two and two together, but his reaction wasn’t what you had anticipated. You thought he’d get a bit cocky, instead, his nickname for you quietly left his mouth and he took a step back. Or well, he tried to, but your hand that was now close to his abdomen took hold of his shirt and pulled him back. “Don’t you dare back off now,” you growled lowly. “I keep trying to piss you off because it’s hot as fuck, but you keep forgiving me.”

Hancock chuckled. “What can I say? It seems I just have a soft spot for you.” Then he turned serious. “You sure you want this, sweetheart?” 

You nodded eagerly. “Please.”

“Ever been with a ghoul before?”

“What’s it matter? I-”

“We look different.”

“I’m aware,” you said with a small smirk and raised eyebrows but it clearly didn’t set him at ease. 

“Everywhere, Sole.” 

“Okay, let me spell it out for you: I. Want. You. That clear enough?” 

Hancock let out a small chuckle. “Fine. But you suddenly change your mind? I do something you don’t like? You tell me, okay? We’ll stop immediately.” 

Curie:

Little Lamplight: “Oh, this is just horrible! No child should have to survive in these conditions! Isn’t there anything we can do to help them?” 

MacCready: “Such vulgarity! Has no one got manners anymore in this world?” 

Danse:

Little Lamplight: “Look what the war did to these children! This is yet more proof of why technology in the hands of the wrong people can have devastating consequences!” 

MacCready: “The exact attitude one would expect from someone who’d grow up to be a mercenary.” (Mac: “What’s that supposed to mean??”) 

Deacon:

Little Lamplight: “A parentless life is a sad reality for many children in the wastes. However morbid this may look, they’ve been managing well.”

MacCready: Deacon will try to convince mayor MacCready that he’s just a really tall child. On top of that, he will forever call adult MacCready ‘mungo’ and make up countless different reasons for how he knows that term.

Gage:

Little Lamplight: “Interesting set-up. I guess they’re pretty safe here from outside threats, except - you know - the gigantic green monsters next door.” (insert sarcasm)

MacCready: “Kid, you have no idea the kind of company I’ve had to deal with all these years. You wanna rile me up? Then stray away from your vanilla boring ass insults ‘cause I ain’t impressed.” 

Hancock:

Little Lamplight: “Huh, cozying up right next to a super mutant den? Either these kids are incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Probably an unhealthy mix of both.” 

MacCready: “So this is the origin story of our favorite mercenary? Hm, I’ll admit, almost as good as mine.” 

Longfellow:

Little Lamplight: Longfellow won’t say anything, but a profound sadness washes over him at the sight in front of him. If somewhere deep down he still had hope for the world, it was now for sure fully taken away.

MacCready: “Youngsters these days…” 

MacCready:

“Ahh the good old times.” 

Nick:

Little Lamplight: “I can’t tell if I’m more impressed by their tenacity, or more disappointed that they need it to survive.” 

MacCready: “Well, behind every hardened mercenary, there is some kind of tragic backstory, isn’t there?” He sighs. “Maybe I’ve been too hard on the kid.” 

Piper:

Little Lamplight: “Oh god… I’ve always known the Wasteland was hard but… these are children. They should be getting raised by two loving parents not living like… this.”

MacCready: Piper’s always known MacCready as a chill mercenary who tries a bit too hard to flirt with her. She’s never paid much attention to him, but seeing him as a child living in these circumstances, she suddenly finds herself looking at him in a completely different light. 

Preston:

Little Lamplight: “This is why we have to bring back the Minutemen! Children deserve to grow up in a safe place, not hiding out in a cave.”

MacCready: “Damn… With how chill he is, you’d never guess he had this kind of childhood. Certainly explains why he’s so good at his job though.” 

Strong:

Little Lamplight: “Not safe for small human! Brother smash small human!” 

MacCready: “Small human talk too much!” 

X6-88:

Little Lamplight: “And here I thought I’d already seen the worst of the surface.” 

Curie: Curie will be the most calm and collected. Being a doctor, she has experience patching people up and she knows panicking will only make things worse. With Curie by your side, you are in good hands. She’ll do whatever she can with the current equipment she has and once you are stabilized she will bring you to either a hospital or a friendly settlement to nurse you back to health completely. 

Danse: Danse might freeze for a second. Instinctively, he recalls Brotherhood protocol but he hesitates because he also knows how harsh that protocol can be. You are not just any soldier, you’re you, and no part of him is willing to risk you dying just because the protocol doesn’t care for your survival as much as he does. So instead, he’ll forgo protocol, forgo the mission in general if necessary and bring you to safety. 

Deacon: “It’s just a flesh wound. Carrington will patch you right up,” is what he tells you to keep you calm, but he himself does not believe it. Your condition is a lot more severe than he is letting on and he has to try hard not to openly panic. Luckily, Deacon knows his way around the Commonwealth pretty well, so he’ll pick you up and take the fastest and safest way back to HQ, all the while cracking some lighthearted jokes to keep you smiling. 

Gage: Raiders are mostly not known for their medical skills. The lifestyle Gage chose is one where death is accepted. However, raiders often also stock up on drugs. He himself is not a fan of it, but he does know where others hide their caches around Nuka World. So he’ll give you some buffout and med-x, and then haul you over to the nearest doctor after which he goes off on his own for a bit. Gage normally doesn’t care when others die, but seeing you close to death made him panic, which made him realize that he’s grown attached to you. He is not sure how he feels about that and needs some time alone to reflect. 

Hancock: First and foremost, Hancock will get you to safety and bring you to a doctor for help. He’ll stay really calm during this. He won’t show you how he feels and he’ll just focus on reassuring you with comforting words. However, he also won’t stick around when the doctor is treating you because he will be hellbent on getting revenge on the people who dared to hurt you.  “You’re in good hands here, Sunshine. I have to go take care of something.” 

Longfellow: “Told you the island would eat you alive,” he mumbled while dragging you back to the doctor in Far Harbor. Longfellow hasn’t gotten attached to someone in a long time, and even though he likes your company, he always kept himself shielded. Of course, he hopes that you’ll pull through, but he’s not panicked or upset. Most people die in the fog, so why not you too? 

MacCready: Mac is a survivor. He’s been fighting since he was a little kid and he’s found himself in countless hazardous situations. Therefore, MacCready is wise enough to not go out without some healing supplies on hand. Still, he panics seeing someone he cares for so dangerously hurt, and will fumble around looking for a stimpak in his backpack, finally emptying all its contents out onto the ground to find it more easily.  

Nick: “I ain’t gonna lie kid, it’s not looking good. How are you feeling? You think you can walk?” Nick has lived a long life - even if doesn’t see all of his memories as his own -, he’s lost a lot of people and in his line of work a happy ending is mostly not the outcome. That doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care or that he won’t try everything he can to save you, it just means he’s good at staying calm and collected during these kinds of situations. 

Piper: “You’re not going to die out here, Sole! I promise!" Piper will quickly administer a stim, then put your arm over her shoulder and drag you to the nearest doctor. She’ll try to remain calm but small things give away that she’s panicking, like having trouble aiming her gun right at enemies along the way, and losing her temper at every obstacle you encounter. 

Preston: “Come on, general! You can pull through!” Preston will be terrified of losing you. While carrying you to the closest doctor around, he’ll still beg anyone he meets along the way for help. 

Strong: “Human fight well! Now die like warrior.”  

Codsworth: (since it’s impossible or at least really awkward to hug Codsworth, this one is just breaking down in front of him crying) Codsworth will panic. He cannot handle sadness well so he’ll try to cheer you up by offering various beverages or food. When that doesn’t work, he’ll finally stop and communicate with you. “Oh sir/mum, what can I do to make you feel better?” 

Curie:

Not-romanced and romanced (I could not really envision it being different): Curie is not that good with emotions yet, so you being so open with them will shock her, but she’ll admire you even more for it. “Oh dear, you must be feeling a whole whirlwind of emotions for you to cry this much!” Curie will, of course, hug you back, but she will feel awkward and insecure about her ability to comfort you. She doesn't even understand most of the emotions she herself experiences. How is she supposed to make you - the expert in her eyes - feel better? 

Danse:

Not-romanced: Danse will freeze for a second before hesitantly hugging you back. Everything inside of him screams that this is inappropriate, that he is your superior, and any kind of physical touch is wrong, even if it is just to comfort you. But another part of him knows your relationship isn’t just based on rank. You’re friends, so he’ll bite his tongue and let you cry until your eyes are dry. He won’t say anything in the meantime, but when you are done, he will ask for an explanation as to what is going on.

Romanced: He won’t show you, but he is panicking, and he’ll continue to panic until you tell him everything that is bothering you. He will hug you tightly and try his best to comfort you, but he will mostly listen instead of trying to give advice. 

Deacon:

Non-romanced: Out of the fight-flight-freeze reactions, Deacon is a person who flees. That’s why he lies and makes up new identities. Being close to someone scares him, as does the friendship you two share. So, when you walk up to him and break down in his arms, he will unfortunately push you away. He doesn’t do it intentionally; it’s an automatic reaction to anyone seeking any sort of intimacy with him. He instantly regrets it too. “Shit, I’m sorry,” he’ll say upon seeing your surprised eyes. He internally debates whether he should tell you how uncomfortable he is with physical touch, but he can see that you need him right now, so instead he’ll close the distance again and hug you. “Sorry. Let’s forget about that, okay? Tell me what’s wrong.” 

Romanced: No questions asked, he hugs you tightly and places gentle kisses on your head. He will lay the two of you down so you can cry as long as you need to in a more comfortable position. He’ll hide how much your breakdown scares him, and will try to redirect his thoughts elsewhere (as long as you’re not ready to talk). After a while, he’ll start to absentmindedly run his fingers through your hair and over your back. 

Gage:

Non-romanced: If you do it in public, where the gangs can see you, he might shoot you. So, you better just do it somewhere private like on Fizztop Mountain. However, even if you do it in private, Gage won’t be comforting. He’ll push you away and curse in annoyance upon seeing your tears. “For fuck’s sake! You crying on me now, Boss? You’ve got to be kidding me.” Gage will be ashamed of you. You are the boss of a gigantic raider operation and here you are in front of him, crying. That is not an acceptable thing to do. Get angry, scream, kill, vandalize! There are many ways to express your emotions and crying is not one of them! Even if you are friends, he will not be open to hear you out as long as you are crying. 

Romanced: Gage won’t push you away, but he is still uncomfortable with openly showing weakness. Even if it is the two of you towards each other. He won’t be able to stand the silence as you are crying and sobbing, so he’ll make some suggestions of other things you can do instead of crying. “Come on, let’s shoot some ghouls in Kiddie Kingdom. Always fun to get those suckers, right?” “Heard another poor bastard got stuck in the Gauntlet, how about we make his day even worse, huh?” If you do not react to his suggestions, he’ll eventually quiet down. 

Hancock:

Non-romanced: “Hey, Sunshine, what’s gotten you so down?” Will hug you back tightly and not let go until you yourself signal that you want out of the embrace. Hancock will instantly communicate with you to support you as well as possible. “Tell me what you want me to do here, sweetheart.” Do you need him to just hold you and listen? Do you want him to try and cheer you up? Anything you say goes. 

Romanced: The same as non-romanced, just with a lot more affection. He’ll mumble words of affection, compliments and praises in your ear. 

Longfellow: 

Will be awkward with the physical affection. He can understand needing a shoulder to cry on, but his shoulder hasn’t been used in a long time and he knows he is not the best person to comfort others. “Kid, I know you ain’t got a lot of friends on the island, but I’m afraid you still chose the wrong person to come to.” Of course, his words won’t do anything, it’s not like you’re gonna try and find someone else to comfort you while you are experiencing a literal breakdown, so he’ll stick with you, but will remain awkwardly silent. After a while, he’ll get used to the sound of you crying and he’ll go back to just being himself: grumbling to himself and humming some songs.

MacCready:

Non-romanced: He’ll be surprised when you suddenly crash into him crying, and a bit awkward - he was just a hired gun, this was not what he signed up for. But his worry will be bigger than his annoyance so he won’t make any insensitive remarks until after you’re done crying and he’ll only do that jokingly, to lighten the mood. 

Romanced: So so worried. “Hey, what’s wrong?” When you don’t talk and just cry, his concern will only grow. “Come on, Sole, talk to me. You’re worrying me, sweetheart. Say something, please.”

Nick:

Non-romanced: “There you go, kid, just let it all out.” Nick will hug you back as gently as possible with his outdated synth body. He won’t say much, he’ll just let you cry and vent if you need to. Only if you signal that you are done will he talk and try to give advice as far as that is possible. 

Romanced: The same as non-romanced but he won’t hesitate to hold you tight. 

Piper:

non-romanced and romanced: Piper will feel really bad to see you like this. She will hug you tightly and try to reassure you. “Hey, shh, it’s okay. I’m here, just tell me what’s going on.” 

Preston:

Non-romanced: Preston will be so awkward. He’ll have no idea how to handle this so he’ll just quietly hug you until you’ve calmed down. Only when he feels like you are not too emotional anymore will he dare to speak up. “Hey… wanna talk about it?” 

Romanced: Less awkward, but he still won’t know what to say because he’s afraid he’ll make it worse or annoy you. 

Strong:

Has no concept of what affection is. He’ll assume you’re trying to brawl with him and he’ll simply throw you on the ground. 

X6-88:

Non-romanced: Will push you away and will not be sympathetic towards your feelings. “This seems highly inappropriate.” “If you really need to waste your time on this, I suggest you do it when you’re in human company.” 

Danse

Pre-BB: His soldier instincts will kick in. All he sees is someone about to die. His brain doesn’t yet recognize that you’re doing it to yourself, so he will forcefully stop you in order to save you, only fully realizing what’s going on once he sees your distraught face. He’ll look at you in shock, unable to get any words out. Then he’ll just move in closer and hug you tightly, letting you cry in his arms. He’ll bring you over to Cade whether you want to or not and stay with you the entire time, holding your hand. 

Post BB: Panics. He will desperately try to talk you down from what you’re doing but he won’t approach you, scared that he’ll push you over the edge by doing so. He’ll cry and beg you not to do it, telling you that he needs you and suddenly an overwhelming feeling of guilt overcomes him. You’ve been piecing him together all this time while you yourself were struggling… 

Deacon

Freezes. It takes him a few moments to just simply say your name, grabbing your attention. 

“Sole, what are you doing?” 

His heart is beating loudly in his chest, he’s terrified to say anything because he has no idea what might push you over the edge. 

“I can’t do it anymore, Deacon,” you cry and it breaks his heart. 

How had he never noticed that you were struggling? How was he so oblivious? With everything you’ve been through, it was to be expected, and yet… it had never once crossed his mind. 

And now he’s panicking. “Look, I know I’m not the most sensitive guy, I-I’m not the right person to talk to about feelings and all that, but I’m here for you. You can talk to me, please talk to me…” 

You hesitate for a few seconds, but you nod and break down in his arms. Deacon will try his hardest to comfort you during the next hours until you’ve fallen asleep, upon which he will immediately run to Carrington begging for help. 

Gage

Gage will be scared, but he’s so used to hiding it behind anger and annoyance that he can’t help but do the same even during a sensitive situation like this. 

“You better not go through with that,” he says almost threateningly. “You wanna commit suicide? You can still do that tomorrow, next week, or literally any other time! But if you do it now, you’ll never be able to see or talk to me again and you owe me an explanation if you’re gonna pull this shit on me!” 

Miraculously, his speech guilts you enough to make you stop - which isn’t something he’s particularly proud of or anything, but hey at least it worked. He instantly has his arms around you and won’t let you out of his sight for days while simultaneously arranging for the gang leader of your choice to temporarily take over as Overboss so he can take you back to the Commonwealth and get you some help. 

Hancock

Hancock has seen some stuff in Goodneighbor. It's a rough life and you aren't the first one to try and end things. That also means he’s seen multiple attempts by others to talk these people down, some of which failed. He isn’t going to take that chance with you. 

He has his arms around you before you even knew he was there and he holds you tightly against him so you’re unable to do anything anymore. 

“What do you think you’re doing?” he growls in your ear. He doesn't mean to sound angry, but much like Gage he was scared and too used to masking his fear. However, he instantly calms down once he hears you whimper and break down. 

You cry apologies against his shoulder which he quickly hushes. “It’s okay, we’ll get you whatever help you need. Just don’t do this to me, sweetheart.” 

MacCready

“Woah, hey! What the hell are you doing?!” 

Mac grabs your arm in anger, spinning you around to him. That’s when he sees your tear-stained face. You start crying harder upon seeing his anger and literally break down. However, Mac quickly catches you and pulls you against him in shock. 

“It’s okay,” he says, his anger already long gone. “It’s okay, just talk to me please. What happened?” 

Mac will be worried sick about you and ask around everywhere for help. It doesn’t matter if he has to walk all the way to the Mojave with you, he will get you whatever help you need. 

Nick

Nick feels instantly guilty when he stumbles upon you about to commit suicide. He’s always acknowledged your pain, but he also always kept the conversations about it short. He hid his own pain by focusing on helping others, and he now realizes he pushed you to do the same, even though you were really the one who needed help. 

He says your name quietly, grabbing your attention. “Is there anything I can do to make things better for you?” 

You can't answer that, because if you knew of a way to make things better, you wouldn’t be in this position right now. But the fact that he asks, that someone cares causes you to break down and you are unable to execute your plan at the moment. Nick takes this as his chance to take you in his arms. “Let’s go see doctor Sun.” 

Preston

“Sole? What are you doing?” 

Preston will be in tears just seeing what you are about to do. He’s told you about his own suicidal thoughts before, so why had you not trusted him enough to do the same? He has your back, do you not know that? 

Seeing how badly he is hurting, you can’t go through with it at that moment, so instead you run to him and hide in his arms, crying. “I’m sorry.” 

“I don’t understand… Why? Why did you never tell me?” 

X6-88

Another companion who will forcefully stop you. X6 doesn’t think he’s the right person for you to talk to about what you are going through, so he takes you back to the Institute without a word and drags you over to doctor Volkert. 

Curie:

“You already picked up that same one before, no? Is there some sort of reward for collecting them?” Curie will ask all excitedly. When you tell her that the stuffed animals somehow comfort you, she’ll back off a bit. There’s something about you that tells her you’re not quite ready to talk about it yet. 

Taking them to bed: “Oh, this is very uncomfortable. How can you sleep like this?” The need for sleep is still new to Curie. It took her a while to get used to lying still in bed trying to drift off and it’s still not easy for her, so the random stuffed animals poking her from all sides don’t help. She’ll try to shove them your way, but always somehow misses one. 

Danse:

“Sole, this is an absolute waste of space! Get rid of them, at once!” 

“No,” Sole would growl back. 

“That’s an order, soldier!” 

“Take your order and shove it! This isn’t military business, Danse, this is personal!” 

Though he doesn’t understand what you mean exactly, Danse will be a bit more lenient with you, sometimes even going as far as letting you collect them without a single complaint. It was rare though. 

Taking them to bed: “Is this really necessary?” When you tell him it absolutely is, he’ll sigh but leave it be, only getting really annoyed if they come in between you two when he’s trying to snuggle up to you. 

Deacon:

“Oh sure, when you wanna pick up teddy bears it’s okay, but when I pick something up it’s ‘useless’ and a ‘waste of space’.”

“You were picking up human skulls!” 

“Hey, I had plans for those.” 

Taking them to bed: Deacon won’t complain, but the moment you’re fast asleep, he’ll throw them all out and pretend to be sleeping like a little angel. If you wake up and ask him where your teddy bears are, he’ll just innocently roll into you and wrap his arms around you. “I’m right here.”

“Not what I meant, Deacon.”

“And yet, you suddenly realize that I am, in fact, the only teddy bear you’ll ever need.”

You scoff but wrap your arms around him as well. “You’re the worst.”

Gage:

Have you ever seen someone who’s just absolutely done with life? Yeah, that’s Gage the fifth time he’ll find you down in Nuka-World’s arcade instead of clearing out the park with him. 

“For the love of- Boss! We need to talk.” Oh, he is pissed. 

“Later, Gage, I’m-”

“Nothing later,” he’ll say and grab your arm, roughly spinning you away from the machine so you’re looking at him. “My life depends on how well you do as Overboss, so get your shit together already!” 

Taking them to bed: No. Plain and simple, it just isn’t happening. It would make him look soft and he can’t have that. If you insist, he’ll threaten you with some form of punishment like sleeping separately, no sex, or whatever he knows will affect you. 

Hancock:

Hancock is easily the most patient with you (besides Curie, of course). The first few times, he doesn’t think anything of it. When it happens more frequently, he starts to get worried but doesn’t say anything to you at the moment. Only when you get back to the Old State House does he carefully bring it up. 

“So, Sunshine, wanna tell me what the story is behind these?” 

Taking them to bed: Sure, as long as it doesn’t hinder his ability to cuddle you to sleep.

Longfellow:

Taking them to bed: Nick doesn’t sleep. Sometimes he lies down with you if you want him to and having the stuffed animals there won’t change that, though he might complain about them like a grumpy old man. 

Piper:

“Priorities, Blue! Ugh!” 

She’ll comment on it a few times. If it keeps happening, she’ll stop you and try to talk to you about it. Whether you share your reason with her or not is up to you, but if you don’t, she’ll make a lot more comments, trying to make you slip up and tell her something. 

“You know, if we die here, I’d love to see the face of the poor wastelander who ends up finding our corpses. How will they give meaning to the mystery that is the bag full of teddy bears? What do you think, Blue?”  

Taking them to bed: She doesn’t really want it, but she won’t complain as much as the others. Most of the time, she’ll like having the extra softness around, but other times she just wants to snuggle up to you and if the stuffed animals get in the way, they’ll have to go. 

Preston:

Deacon will laugh it off and pray that you’re just joking. Whether you want him to have sex with someone else while you watch or you want to have sex with someone else while he watches, neither option appeals to him, and he’ll refuse. Unlike Danse and Curie, however, he will not bombard you with questions. Instead, he’ll pretend you two never had the conversation at all, but this approach results in him having a lot of unanswered questions still on his mind. Gage:

At first, Gage immediately thinks about how he can have some dirty fun with you, but he finds himself unable to act on it because he respects you too much. This confuses him and you’ll find him often spacing while you’re talking to him. 

Hancock:

Chuckles to himself and is very flattered, but he won’t mention anything to you unless he notices you acting differently around him. He’ll tease you a bit when that happens, but he won’t take things further or mention your feelings for him (or his feelings for you) because he thinks it’s just a crush and that you deserve better than him.  

MacCready:

Mac will be - like Hancock - flattered and amused, and he won’t be able to hide it. He’ll smirk at you, wink at the most random of times and make flirty jokes in a very unsubtle way. If you blush in response, he’ll find it both hilarious and adorable. This can go on for a while before he finally confesses that he overheard your conversation. As you groan and hide your face in your hands in embarrassment, he’ll pull you in his arms while laughing before he reassures you that you are adorable and that he feels the same.  

Nick:

Sighs loudly. He had not expected this and he doesn’t want things to become awkward or complicated. Without even thinking about his own feelings, he’ll sit you down and talk about it, trying his best to let you down gently.

 Danse:

Speechless because he’s so disappointed in you.

“Soldier… just….” He sighs and decides it’s not worth it, so instead of wasting more time on words, he silently helps them out and then give them judgmental looks for the rest of the day.

“Hey, I ain’t judging you. These things are great eavesdropping spots, you just gotta pick the right locations. And this one: not so good. Too close to Trinity Tower, unless you can decipher some intelligent code in the Super Mutants grunting. Never was able to myself.”

“That’s great, Deacon. Can you get me out?”

“What? Oh yeah, pull the lever on your left.”

 Gage:

“Boss,” he starts but then stops for a second and breathes in deeply before he’d lash out in annoyance and disappointment. How was he supposed to put his faith in you as Overboss if you can’t even figure out how to open the door of a Pulowski Shelter. “How the hell did you get yourself stuck in there? You know what, no, I don’t even wanna know. Just get out before one of the gangs finds out.”

 Hancock:

Thinks the drugs are making him hallucinate when he hears your voice but doesn’t see you anywhere.

“The jet will make you jittery,” he mumbles to himself and moves on. Only realizing later that day that you are nowhere to be found and he might not have been hallucinating after all.

 Longfellow:

Longfellow is too preoccupied with his drunken sailor songs to even hear your cries. And by the time he gets back to his cabin, he has probably forgotten he was with you at all, so chances are there’d be no rescue for you.

 MacCready:

“And how do you expect me to do that? I don’t see what you see! I’m sure there’s a lever or a button somewhere.”

 Piper:

“Hm, interesting spot to crawl into, Blue. Tell me, what kind of secrets does it hold?” she says teasingly.

“You tell me, I thought I’d seen you hide in one of these once.”

Instantly her teasing tone changes as she feels caught. “Well, y-yeah, but that’s for my job!”

“Yeah, that makes it better, Piper.”

 Preston:

“General, why were you in there in the first place?”

“…Recon.”

“Hm. So what did you discover?” Preston says, sounding amused.

 Strong:

“Human should not hide!! Human weak!”

“Just get me out already, big guy.”

And he will, by ripping the shelter in two.

 X6-88:

“Sir/Ma’am, what were you looking for in there?”

“That’s not important, X6! Just help me get out.”

Codsworth:

If this is a new post-war thing, Codsworth will be very concerned, but he’ll just laugh it off awkwardly whenever it happens.

Curie:

Plain confused: “Why do you do that? Why not just listen to what the other has to say?”

Danse:

Danse will be creeped out, but he’ll try to hide it by sounding annoyed instead. However, he will most likely not offer the twins a spot on his team in Cambridge.

Deacon:

He’s heard tales of the twins, but only good stuff, so you can imagine the disappointment when they come knocking on the Railroad doors only to discover that they are actually weirdly off-putting.

“Ah man, if only you were actually good at speaking in sync, imagine the things we could pull off. Well anyway, welcome to our little freakshow, and I think you, my friend, might just top Tinker Tom.” And he’d silently add a sarcastic "hurray".

Gage:

“Look, we can’t have two Overbosses, that’s not how it works,” Gage says, already full-on annoyed that even the very start of his new Overboss plan didn’t go according to plan.

“We do a- everything together. We’re bas- basically one person.”

“We do everything together. We’re act- basically one person.”

The twins say in semi-unison, constantly looking at each other to make sure they say the same thing but still failing half the time.

Hancock:

Hancock completely ignores the weird twin stuff, mostly because he thinks he’s so high on jet he’s hallucinating one of the two. The only thing is… if he’s hallucinating a second person, then why are they so bad at talking in unison?

Longfellow:

Longfellow has about enough of the twins the moment they first open their mouths. He won’t want to talk to them after that, but if he happens to cross paths with them, he won’t hesitate to insult them either.

“You one of them lunatic rad freaks? You’d fit right in.”

MacCready:

“Yeah, whatever you say, boss, as long as I get my share of the money at the end.” He says at first, but after traveling with them for a spell, he won’t be able to handle it anymore and part ways – not even caring if he gets his money or not.

Nick:

Deep, irritated sigh. “We get it, you two are twins. What more do you have to prove to anyone?”

Piper:

Absolutely flabbergasted during the interview. Piper is unsure whether she should say anything about this weird behavior or not, she decides to stay quiet and stares at her notes from the interview in semi-shock and with a heap of regret.

Preston:

“So which one of you is going to be the general?”

The twins look at each other.

“We wou- will only become general if we can do it together.”

“We will- will only be… become general if we can do it together.”

Preston will be speechless for a moment. His first instinct is to explain why that isn’t possible, but he quickly realizes any such attempt will be futile anyway and gives up.

Strong:

It can either go one or two ways here. Either he's focused on them being twins which he'll perceive as something positive: "Humans look alike! Like Strong and brothers look alike! Good!

Or he's focused on the talking, which (as we all know) is bad: “Humans talk too much! Humans should fight!”
