Hell yeah the US just gave like 8 billion dollars in funding to intercity passenger rail. Including some HIGH SPEED RAIL?!?!?!??

can't overstate how massive this is, i used to work in rail and US trains were so pitifully underfunded that my employer wouldn't even bid on those projects because it wasn't worth the time. This is actually putting us on the level of other countries that invest in transportation as a public service??? And 8 billion? Like this could actually really make some massive change.

Amtrak launches a new fare model that gives customers the ability to book cheaper flexible tickets.

With the new structure, customers traveling from Philadelphia to New York can buy tickets starting at $19 if they choose the low-cost Value option or $21 if they want more flexibility. Previously a flexible ticket for the same trip would cost at least $128.A ticket to Boston from Philadelphia in coach could cost customers as low as $35 with thenew flexible option, whereas it used to cost $223.

as a personal aside the train also does not give a single goddamn fuck what you are transporting and will not look. If your two carry on bags are in fact both full of beer for an event... they will not look or care so long as you don't take the beer out in transit. Or the pornography. Fun times were had.

There are SOME limits, but by and large so long as it is secured in a bag and not taken out, they don't look.

Also you aren't getting a pat down or searched, if you are tired of being groped by the airport.

This won't probably replace a crosscountry flight, but if its long enough drive you're considering a flight... have you considered THE TRAIN???
