The meme is centred on “a girl who died instantly after smoking weed in a party” which obviously is intended to be exaggerated and a stretch of reality.

The actual woman in the photo, Taylor Swift, approves of the meme.

Poot Lovato

The photo is photoshopped intentionally so that it looks unflattering.

It’s misogynistic because the humor makes a critique on a woman’s appearance.

The joke is ableist because the backstory implies aspects of Poot’s personality that would make her disabled.

The meme states that Poot was locked in the basement which is actually not supposed to be a laughing matter because this actually happens in real life (trigger warning: abuse).

The actual woman in the photo, Demi Lovato, would like everyone to stop using the meme. Not because she can’t take a joke but because she has in fact been battling body image problems for a long time.

Moreover, the said woman has a history of having eating disorders and self-harming to the point she got admitted to rehab for them.
