Ignoring that weird anon. Ok, hear me out.
Legacy. Everyone lives up to something. You either live up to your parents' expectations or maybe even their disappointments. Or maybe you live up to the rumors that are said. Or the goals you've set for yourself. Maybe its an image, idea, or person you're living up to.
All in all, everyone always has an expectation of you. Be it from family, a friend, a coworker or boss, and sometimes maybe even a stranger.
You have your expectations to live up to. A legacy of sorts. Which was exactly why the ever goody-two-shoes batfamily was glaring daggers at you and your father right now. Jokes on them, you like the attention.
Giving your dear old man the side eye, he signaled you. So you took center stage. Coughing into your fist to garner the attention in the room, you stepped forward and gestured to the comically large tv screen, "as you can see from the timer, you lot got exactly two hours to find and disarm all the bombs," you pointed to a table with an assortment of paper notes on them, "in typical school fashion, think of it as a scavenger hunt. The clues are on notes. Figure out the clues, and you'll get the locations of the bombs. Now, the Riddler couldn't make it tonight, but for a short disclaimer, he was the one who came up with the riddles on the notes. So if you try to beat the answers out of me or dear dad here, wellllllll, it won't exactly work out for you. We don't know the locations either, as mother took care of that instead."
Robin scrunched up his nose. This was what his class did in school yesterday. A stupid as hell scavenger hunt where people partnered in twos in order to find what they could. The winners would be the duo who found the most stuff. The person he partnered up with (and just so happened to be friends with) hated the scavenger hunt too. But he and them ended uo dominating the whole challenge anyway.
"What's with those looks?! Come on Bats and Birds, this little challenge can't be that scary!"
Truth be told, you hated this idea, but since you told your dad what you did at school yesterday, he had decided to haphazardly set up his own version of the scavenger hunt. And he wanted you to present the whole thing.
And you can't disappoint your dad, right? The Joker of all people. The big bad man himself. You never understood what your mother saw in the guy. You liked to think you were sane. That you were "all there" so to speak. And yet... so many expectations. The child of the Joker CAN'T be sane. Right? I mean, everyone says it. If someone comes from bad parents, then that must mean that the child is bad too. Born from a bad guy equals raised as a bad guy. Not a single person ever expected you to turn out right or with a good head on your shoulders. And you got tired trying to prove yourself. So you lived up to the legacy of the Joker. Sure you went to school. Became friends with a Wayne. And live a decent life. But as a villain?
You smiled, all teeth, your eyes shining with glee, "come now! Step right on up! Unless you want someone to die? And don't worry, I was generous! Dear dad here was going to give you a measily thirty minutes, but me? I am giving you a whole two hours ... starting ... NOW!"
I am so cooking with this, chat.
