"thanksgiving" is tomorrow. i know that a lot of people don't really have a choice but to partake because of familial pressures despite the "holiday"'s history. that being said, now is a really good time to uplift indigenous people in your lives.
so, here goes: i am an afro-indigenous (aa / seminole / tsalagi / white sámi) person who is currently dealing with housing instability. at the end of this month, i don't have anywhere safe to go. i need to raise $1200 initially for either an airbnb for the month of december OR to go towards the $1k car that i found on craigslist for me to sleep in at my mom's indefinitely. im going to have to cr*wdf*nd more come december as i am having to throw away most of my things due to my current home's bedbug infestation but this will at least get me going!
it's very urgent. come december first i will be sleeping in a tent at my mom's without some kind of shelter.
anything helps, and even if you can't contribute fin*nci*lly - please remember to check on and uplift the indigenous people in your lives during this day of mourning! it can be really hard to see everyone around you celebrate something that, for your people, is a symbol of genocide, so we definitely deserve extra kindness right now 💜
