between the old and the new there is a lonely pause ~
spiritual guides tell us to cut the toxic shit out of our lives, but that can be a lot harder than it sounds. it’s okay if you miss your old bad habits and unhealthy cycles. it’s okay if you feel a bit empty after giving up harmful patterns. it’s okay if you relapse and call that ex, grab a cigarette, or go out again with people who are no good for you. it might feel like failure, but it’s actually part of progress. you may be back in the same place, but you’re different now.
~ sometimes peace comes at a price. hang in there.
Aquarius New Moon ~
What will you make space for? What dust is piling up in the corners of your psyche? This New Moon/Solar Eclipse invites you to clear it out. Make space for something new.
~ meditation
Take ten deep breaths, relaxing your body more and more each time.
Imagine a light gust of wind coming from in front of you. Feel it blow through you, clearing out your worries from the day. Feel it get stronger, blowing fresh air through your whole body, clearing out your worries from last month, clearing out your worries from last year. The wind blows every last speck of dirt and darkness out of your being. Sit empty. Feel yourself sitting, thinking about nothing but the present moment. Breathe.
Imagine a small white light, like a tea light, at the base of your spine. Inhale and exhale slowly, feeling the light grow stronger and brighter. Let the pure light fill you up. Keep breathing. Let the light fill the whole room.
~ journal
What old worries and patterns is it time to let go of? What would you do if these worries were gone for good? In what ways can you lighten up?
As you go about your days, these old worries will try to come back and visit you again. Let them float away like clouds.
change shades
We react to our surroundings. We listen to nature because we live with her, because she is part of us. We layer on sweaters and jackets as we travel farther from the Sun. Honour her with black turtlenecks, dark lipstick and long scarves. Shed our lighter layers for heavier skin, when the trees change shades.
Spell for the Autumn Equinox
The heat of the year is gone. The cold is creeping in. It’s time to take stock and show gratitude.
Cast a circle and say your opening prayer. If you don’t have one of your own, something like this will work: Creator of all that is and Mother Earth, I am grateful for the bounty of the season. I call upon the power of the West, the South, the East, and the North; Water, Fire, Air, and Earth. Watch over me while I honour your perfect balance.
Facing West (to represent the setting sun, or an ending), write down five things* that are no longer serving you or that you wish to leave behind. Say them out loud in a way that feels natural. This could be something tangible like a specific relationship or job, or something abstract like a fear or worry that’s bothering you. My fear of success is no longer useful. I hereby leave it behind.
Turn clockwise until you face East (to represent the rising sun or a new day). Write down five things that you wish to call in. Again, this could be something tangible like a new job, or something abstract like more creativity. I call in new friendships that are true and joyful. I have time to invest in being a good friend.
When you are done, turn clockwise again to face North. Envision darkness on your left or West, and a shimmering light on your right or East. Breathe deeply and focus on this image. Say a closing prayer and express your gratitude. I carry the spirit of the season with me. I am both darkness and light. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
*Five is a magical number (five points on a pentagram) and it’s also my lucky number so I always use it. If you have a favourite, lucky, or magical number please use that instead of five. At the end, I say thank you five times. But please do it however feels most natural and right for you.
I hope you enjoy! Goddess bless xo

Autumn Equinox Altar ~
Light on the inside balanced with darkness and mystery on the outside.
I made two collages: one of light coming through windows, one of dark colours and symbols like a cat, a cave, a forest. I separated light and darkness with this wooden wine box I found on the street. The box is light: a white candle, light coloured crystals, silver stars, dried sunflower petals, fossilized coral and a white gourd for fall. Outside the box is darkness: a frame with just blank black space inside, dark plants and crystals, a photo of a dark sky filled with a full moon.
Light and dark, each life has both. Each season has both. They are especially balanced this Friday, Sept. 22 on the Autumn Equinox.
What does your altar look like for fall?
