not on here afaik and it’s a good ass observation

honestly someone on lj has probably pointed out everything possible ab bert’s traumatized ass behavior. but most of lj is gone and i am very excited ab the amount of ppl that have gotten into the used in a freaky fanfic way bc there is soooo much here. i can smell a little renaissance of real bert understanders and it smells beautiful (unlike bert himself)

so yes!!!! i think bert’s bandmates and crew and friends in general hold a different meaning to him bc they are also filling the family spot in his life

he has such bad experiences being rejected by his family and community for totally normal stuff like being a teenager who wanted to have sex. so bc of that role he has such a strong desire for closeness beyond what most men will pursue w their friends. and that can lead to positive things like yay friendship and it’s ok to hug your friends as a man but ALSO bc it’s bert and it’s not coming from a healthy or secure place it can get bad fast.

1. trying to choke quinn to death while drunk

2. leaving kate alone

3. telling a magazine details about his and kelly osbornes sex life when she didn’t want that info out and (esp in the 00s) would face much worse social and professional consequences from it being out than he would

4. cheating on his wife w fans

5. ditching the band to run away w a random girl in california right when they were making their first demo and had their big break
