Welcome to my silly little art blog. My main is @gnotknormal - I typically use Gnotknormal wherever I'm posting art, but [tumblr] is the special exception because I didn't really know what I was doing when I started here. I was posting my art on my main but it just got lost in all the reblogs and other garbage on there.

Challenge to use a limited palette.

So, I couldn't use my graphics tablet, so I had to do #pixelart obv. I wanted to work with a restricted palette. So I picked 18 colours and did my best. I wanted to have a quite set palette for some of my art but haha I think I'll need to add a red for sure.

Okay so, I bought a new graphic tablet. Really proud of it as it was mainly a direct upgrade and my old one still works which is unheard of for a poor folk like me.

Before I set up the new one, my old one stops working. I deduce pretty certainly it's the cable attaching to the PC, and test it with the new tablet and sure enough, no worky.

Buy new cables (bare in mind, I have someone waiting on a commission), and I pull my PC out to plug in and give the box a bit of a dust while I'm at it.

As I moved it can hear a clear electricy crackling noise coming from the power cable. 😬

I turned the PC off by the plug and got on with it all but urgh. Put it back in place and it won't turn on :(

I'm hoping it's just the power cable needs replacing and I'm also crossing my fingers it hasn't somehow fucked the PC somehow ><

For a technophobe, this is not fun :(

PC is absolutely fine and working okay (basically the plug just came out a bit lmao I'm so silly).

But now I have another problem! See, my screen tablet output is HDMI and I only have one HDMI slot on my PC, which has one of my monitors in. So I've been using a USB to HDMI converter which hasn't been totally reliable but did the job.

This is the cable I was replacing, which is did, but my new tablet doesn't like it at all. I think it's probably just quite tricky with it going through USB so the computer doesn't constantly recognise it as a screen.

Next port of call is I have a DVI slot, so I'll try a DVI to HDMI converter. Might be more reliable since the computer *should* appreciate that this is a screen without too much faff.

Trying to balance character-lead and story-lead elements is fun because your characters would be like "we need to have a proper emotional blow up about now and get all our stuff out in the open" and you'll be like "ah but the audience aren't supposed to know this yet" and go back 4 pages to stop them getting upset.

just spent some time comparing screen tablets to upgrade my old one and I was like damn all these newer ones are so much bigger, I don't need a bigger one.

then i realise that "13" and "22" are not the model numbers but, in fact, the screen size xD. well that makes this decision a lot easier!
