THE REVELATION that echo gives him opens up an old wound in obi - wan . where else is his mind supposed to go except to cody ? the man that had been with him since the start of the war to the very end . he'd never known exactly what had happened to him that day on utapau , had never truly found out who it was that had tried to kill him . there was plenty left to haunt obi - wan after the purge , a slew of failures and betrayals to occupy his mind . but cody was an aching question mark that now seemed to have an answer . he's not sure he feels entirely better for knowing .
for all the thoughts turning in his head , ❝ i see , ❞ is all he manages to say . he's quiet for a long moment before he nods , forcing himself back into the present , back to the clone that sits across from him . ❝ you asked about parts . the jawas always have things they've scavenged but they're hardly known for their QUALITY of material . you'll have a slightly better chance at the junk shops in the cities , but you'll certainly have to pay for it . ❞
The general seemed to be taking it well, if being looked like he'd just been run over by a raging bantha was 'taking it well', but at least the general had actually allowed him to get a word in about the chips before he started blasting. There were a handful of other Jedi that survived the purge, and not all of them were as ready to sit and listen to an old clone.
The silence hung in the air for a moment as he studied the old general's face, weighing his next words carefully. Echo carried his own wounds too, and he wasn't sure if that made him any sort of expert one way or the other with how to deal with them. Sith hells, he wasn't a medic.
A rueful smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he looked at the Jedi. "I expected to have to pay for it either way, sir. Anyone sees armor and thinks that means credits, even if don't recognize the face." He could try to go without, of course, but he didn't like the idea of missing the protection should things go sideways, which somehow always seemed to happen.
