Dramatic lighting. I don’t know exactly where I was going with this at first. So.. just imagine she’s lit something on fire behind her. She’s almost intimidating like this. lol.

The party I keep drawing Mavari from.

From left to right, we have our Dragonborn Paladin who absolutely can’t stand kobolds, Baxiros Irnen. Then it’s our Goliath Barbarian, the man is an absolute loot whore, as I’ve mentioned before, Cagall. And he saw a lame horse once, and hasn’t let go of wanting it. He will literally go to any length, smart or stupid, just to get it. Then it is our Aasimar Sorcerer, Yutari. Who is quiet, but man does he know when to sass someone. Whether it’s us or otherwise. Then of course, Mavari Firetide. My Tiefling Warlock, who always sticks closest to Cagall for extra safety. The man being 9’-something, and Mavari a whopping 5’4” including her horns, would literally pay him to carry her across things she deemed too dirty.

I love them so much. Eventually they’ll learn that Mavari has a made up last name because her parents reinvented themselves before she was born. As her parents were nearly killed in the hoard of the dragon queen cult, someone putting a hit out on them. Mavari learned this at age twenty and desperately wanted to find out why, because her parents wouldn’t tell her why. So she made a deal with the great old one and became a warlock to protect herself. She would miss the life of a noble, but her curiosities beat her necessity for that lifestyle. Now, at twenty eight, Mavari set off and found this group trying to find similar things and went with them. Feeling quite safe among three incredibly tall people compared to her, and their strengths. Their weakness on the other hand, Mavari feels like she made a very strange decision to go with them. Lolol.

I just need to share this story. It won’t be a very long one, but it made me laugh.

So for some added context, my friends and I are doing the “Hoard of the dragon queen” campaign. So far, it’s pretty interesting but we’ve not gotten past the first cave part. It’s in this cave that things keep getting more interesting.

Now, I play as my Warlock Tiefling, Mavari. The bright orange one I’ve drawn. She is like 5’5”. She is averagely sized. The other person in this party that matters is Cagall, our Goliath Barbarian. He is 9’-something. Mavari comes up to his stomach.

In some of the parts in this cave, the tunnels are really thin and you can’t really fit two side by side. Especially if one is a massive Goliath. Cagall doesn’t care much about things unless they involve his need for the shitty, rusty scimitars from the enemies. His need for a really lame horse that our DM has put him in a mini quest to get it. And loot. So, would he care that another party member invade his personal space? Absolutely not if he knows them. He knows Mavari.

But Mavari has no reason to get near him whatsoever. Until we’re in a fight with kobolds, and the walls are too close for two people to stand next to each other. It just ended up that two of the other PC’s got to the opening and Cagall and I didn’t. I didn’t want to get in the thick of it because my health was looking pretty low, but I still needed to be useful. Mavari would’ve wanted to be useful. So I said I was ducking down behind Cagall and shot eldritch blast behind him, through his legs at a kobold.

But just imagine this from the kobold’s perspective. An absolute unit of a Goliath comes barreling down a small tunnel, watches this Goliath cut one of this friends down the middle. In half. And then promptly shoots this dark lightning-like energy from his genitals at him. Without uttering a word or even looking at him. What makes this great is that this kobold didn’t die right away, he got to witness it a second time before Cagall managed to move forward and slice him up with his axe. Imagine his confusion. His probable terror. The poor kobold, never saw it coming.

Her favourite drink, though she’s never really tried anything more adventurous than wine. Her parents didn’t quite like her to be adventurous. Gave her everything she wanted to avoid her wanting to go out an adventure. To avoid the lives they almost lost.
