I saw some weird ass conspiracy video thing today of like 'we were never meant to have access to yeast, that was cultivated in a lab and it harms us' bullshit and I was like well first off there's no such thing as 'meant to' and second of all um? the long history of acquiring yeast from beer foam stretching so far back ??????

If you want to make sourdough started from scratch, the process is 'mix water, flour, and maybe sugar if you've got it, then WHIP IN AS MUCH AIR AS YOU CAN' and let it sit. And this works. Because there's yeast there. In the air.

Not only is there yeast in the air, it's on a bunch of fruits, too. Ever rubbed a blueberry, plum, or grape, and it was slightly darker underneath? That thin film is wild yeasts. There is also yeasts that live on human skin (and not just pathogenic ones!). We are never without yeasts.

Fun fact: many public libraries now have 3D printers that you can pay to use! We charge per gram of filament so something like this would probably be less than $10! Just a thought for anyone who wants 3D printed stuff w/o having to buy a several hundred dollar machine

i dont actually 3D print myself, but my understanding is that if you want to make it food-safe, you should seal it with resin afterwards.

so if you, like op, want some kick-ass thousand year old cup designs, make sure you aren’t gonna cause yourself problems with it!

Please be very careful with resin if you use it! A lot of it is not food safe and it absolutely has to be cured properly.

Listen I get it but you CANNOT use "sensory nightmare" as an excuse to avoid essential things. You HAVE to find a way to make it work, such as finding effective alternatives. But you can't just avoid it.

You need to eat some vegetables in your diet or you will become a lich.
