thats the physical manifestation of all the parts of himself that he leaves chained up, wrapped in so many layers of newspaper and tape and fabric because he can't bear to have it exposed to the light. and it becomes so painfully obvious why his adult life felt so meaningless, why all the apartments he viewed with his soon-to-be-wife "smelled like divorce, bankruptcy, illness and death". because all he was looking for, in every apartment, were "potential hiding spaces" (going as far as "fantasizing about a secret, climate-controlled CLOSET, combination lock only").

and why, even though theo had said, multiple times, that no one in his life (besides HOBIE) would be able to know what it was, boris confesses he stole it by simply claiming that "he wanted it", and "anyone could see" what it was. and why boris said he will do anything and everything to get it back to theo, "for old times sake, just to have, to really be his, TO KEEP IN THE CLOSET OR GET OUT AND LOOK AT LIKE THE OLD DAYS".

Trevor Noah has a great tip, that when he craves ice cream at night he breaks it down into parts: I want something cold, I want something sweet. He drinks a glass of cold water then waits to see if he still has the ice cream craving. Usually he doesn’t.

So listening to your body isn’t “follow every urge” but “decompose the urge to discover the underlying need.”

If you always feel like getting cozy in bed you may be: cold, dehydrated, and/or malnourished (maybe a need for high calories that are bioaccessible…not processed).

If you do not feel tired at bedtime you may: need to eat dinner earlier because your body is still digesting, need to exercise or go outside more during the day, get the fuck off your screen for an hour so your brain can enter sleep mode.

a friend was pointing out the FIRST thing root says to the machine in god mode is... a criticism. a signal of her personal preference.

and then nearly the second thing is completely casually referring to someone as the machine's friend (because She is a person who has friends):

she's never thrown off how this is a person, this is someone who quickly becomes her friend (I was going to say "and more", but in some ways idk if the romantic and sexual aspects even DO make it "more" for root, "friend" is such a world shatteringly intense category for her)

she calls Her a god, but [sickos yes voice] the word worship is never once used, do you have any idea how much that means?

she doesn't unthinkingly obey, she trusts, she trusts this person (who also helpfully has way more eyes than anyone else)

she is THAT devoted and yet never puts Her on a pedestal

(...actually now that i think of it if she pedestals anyone it's harold?)
