how about you saying all Israelis are settler colonists who just hate Palestinians and want to wipe them all out? I thought stereotyping based on nationality was bad?

how about you saying Israelis and Jews are untrustworthy and inherently sneaky? a common trope of classical blood libel?

how about you making it seem like Jesus was Palestinian, when in fact he was Jewish and a) this denies Jewish historical ownership of land in Israel and b) is majorly antisemitic?

how about you celebrating the one year anniversary of the murder of thousands of innocents and the kidnapping of hundreds who were then held hostage by a terrorist organization for hundreds of days? including the kidnapping and murder of an eight month old just for being Jewish?

how about you claiming Israel lied about a rocket being from Hamas when world news has since proven that it was indeed a misfired Hamas rocket?

How about the fact that this post is the only thing you’ve ever reblogged regarding Judaism, and you’ve never listened to a word Jews have to say?

my note for this paragraph was just literally “ohhhhhh” because like. now that I’ve seen it pointed out, this is ten thousand percent what’s going on. they don’t care if Israelis are indigenous or not - they just know that they don’t like something about how the country was founded, and the stain of that sin applies to anyone who was born there or moves there or interacts with israel, and it’s irrevocable unless the whole thing dies.

If someone said that about all of humanity and the end times in a right wing Christian way, it would rightfully be called crazy and hateful.

american jews celebrating christmas in their own way doesn’t make them less jewish ,, and just because YOU have negative associations with christianity with christmas doesn’t mean every jew does

for as much as jews on here say christmas can’t be secular to an extent i agree but y’all are forgetting the fact many american jews observe christmas in a secular way — when an american jew celebrates christmas it’s often celebrating they get time off to be with their families,, that’s what their celebrating

not the birth of christ, or anything to do with christianity itself

just being able to spend time with family without the looming stress of work or school and to have a few days to just laze around

and for jews who’s family are interfaith — they practice christmas and hanukkah together and celebrate the love between them as a family under different faiths yet united

a jew is a jew — just because a jew practices differently from you don’t mean their less of a jew, y’all seriously need to get your act together cause this is just disappointing

I think you’re mixing up celebrating Christmas and doing something on a day you have off. if you do something chill on a day you have off, you’re taking advantage of a holiday and being non-religious. if you do specifically Christmas-y things, that’s celebrating Christmas, and that’s doing a Christian holiday, which is uh. not secular. and that’s ok if you do, just fucking recognize that you’re doing it and don’t try to shame others for mentioning that

Irish and English have different sounds, so it's not possible to accurately represent the sounds of Irish using English spelling. This is obvious for what people call "guttural" sounds, like broad ch, you often see some variation of "chock" or "chokh" or "choh" for teach, but obviously english has no way of spelling that sound. It's not just a few sounds though, Irish has like 30 different consonants. Broad b, slender b, broad d, slender d etc.

PLUS, Irish spelling usually tells you how to pronounce words pretty accurately if you understand the rules, so this kind of respelling isn't necessary.

DOUBLE PLUS, different dialects will pronounce words differently, but the spelling will often accurately represent that for all of them. I say samhradh as samhra with a neutral vowel at the end, because that's how -adh is read in munster*, whereas in ulster they would read it as samhrú because that's how -adh is read there.
