Any advice for a new ffxiv player ?
especially watch all the msq cutscenes!
anyone that starts a fight before you are done watching a cutscene is being deeply and harshly judged by everyone else with you.
people truly love and adore new players. if you fuck up, it'll be okay.
if you do not find a character be obsessed with, one will be assigned to you
...but if you're not enjoying an area, you don't have to.
if you encounter the message "a series of cutscenes are about to play" you need to pause and use the bathroom and get water and put your game face on because you're not leaving the same.
this is genuinely the most rewarding game and i truly believe the main story through endwalker is a story unlike any other and close to perfection.
DO NOT LET ANYONE SPOIL YOU. if you have not already been spoiled. try not to spoil yourself. at several points my friends would be like okay sweetie go enjoy your cutscene :) and afterward i would be so emotional i would like... park my character on a mountain side and leave the computer for an hour. it's a good game god dammit...
glamour (oufitting) is the actual endgame. it is also a trap set by god to deprive you of your time and money and it is very fun.
you can buy an apartment fairly early on for not much if no houses are available and you still want a place to crash and call home!
if you want to learn professions, just do high quality grand company turn ins and leve quests.
if you want to learn professions and be even lazier than that, you can just write down what item each quest/turn in requires and go buy the high quality stuff off the market board and turn that in.
if you want to make easy money, i don't know how easy this still is but professions leveled past a certain point (30?) let you basically disintegrate an item made by that profession into some of the components that it's made of, plus (usually) a random crystal that will sell to vendors or on the market board for various prices. i made a few hundred million going to different realms and buying out cheap items and flipping them like this. i really enjoyed it.
i am sorry half my tips are about market manipulation. the grind never sleeps.
