Secret Six 25
King Shark is a real role model, if you think about it. He so enjoys being a big ol’ man-eating fish monster. Would that we could all be that content with our lot in life.
LET ME JUST REPEAT:
IF KING SHARK IS NOT YOUR FAVORITE
YOU
ARE
WRONG
{ Reasons why I shouldn’t blog when hyper:
Boredom
Sending sexy pictures to Luke to clog up everyone’s dash with my playby.
[How is that a problem]
[She hadn’t expected a right out answer. To her, the question had been more rhetorical but there was always an answer to be had to any that was asked. Setting her glass down after one more sip she leans against the side of her chair. She was relaxed at this point and she couldn’t place why.]
This is not an interrogation, if that is what you are implying. I am not here to make your life hell at all.
[A light twitch of the lips. He was so much smarter than she ever gave him credit for. Maybe it was the fact that she had never paid attention to him fully but she found herself nodding slightly to what he had said.]
A good answer.
[Her hair drapes across her shoulder as she lets out a soft hum, hazel eyes trailing off to another spot in their current location. They faintly travel back to the hulking man for a moment,]
You do not have to be so tense, darling.
It is the only answer I know.
[It was bizarre. Why was she welcoming? It wasn't as though she had forgotten their past. It wasn't as though she'd witnessed his changes. So what was it that kept her so calm...and so eager to speak to him? Bane could not understand it. But, even so, he took a drink of the wine she'd poured him. An act either of good faith, or absolute foolishness.]
You said you wished to speak. What about?
Alleyways.
Lyra couldn’t move as she saw the two, notably smaller, men being closed in on. She bit her knuckles to keep from screaming. She knew she should run. Run away before anyone saw her. But she couldn’t move. Her legs were frozen, like in a dream.
Her heart nearly stopped when the beast of a man turned and saw her. She was scared, yes, but Lyra’s face showed more sadness than anything.
It seemed like forever, but she managed to say something in a soft voice, barely loud enough to hear from that distance.
”Why… did you do that?”
He really didn't like witnesses.
Especially witnesses who asked questions.
"It is my job." Was a simple enough reply.
The girl looked petrified, and disheartened. Not the usual look he got from a passer by, he could admit, but still something he was used to. At this point, Bane would usually approach this person. If they ran, he would chase them, and break them. If they didn't, he would break them where they chose to stand.
But this girl was just that: A Girl. She looked young, and his instincts refused to believe that she would give him trouble in any measure of a long run. After surveying her for a moment to be certain of his judgement, he turned back to the men he'd permanently disabled.
"It is too late to wander the streets alone. Leave this place."
His advice was spoken in a low and warning tone. He heaved both bodies from the upstairs escapade over a hulking shoulder and turned to re-enter the building. Proof of service, as it were.

Alleyways.
Lyra was making her way to the motel she was staying at currently. It’d been a day without work, which was good and bad. No money for today so she had to choose between staying in the motel another night or her next few meals. But it was nice to have a day off from vigorous odds and ends jobs. She had spent a good part of the day sleeping, but, despite the extra sleep, she was still tired now.
She looked around, seeing that no one was really in her vicinity, and decided to take a shortcut. Or what she thought was a shortcut. She was new to this part of Gotham. She walked down one alley and then another, trying to keep her sense of direction.
After a few minutes she hears faint grunts and shouts. She knows that fights are common in cities. Not something to worry over. Lyra is almost sure she’s walking away from the fight, when two men burst out of a door in the alleyway. Another man simultaneously crashes through the second floor window and falls to the ground with a disconcerting thud. Lyra tries not to shout, and instead just steps back quietly, timidly, and clenches her fists to keep calm.
From the same second story window, she sees a massive figure swing its way down the fire escape and land agilely on the ground. It slowly stalks towards the two men who had run out. They were in a dead end, and Lyra was standing in their only way out.
((You do not have to reply with anything as long as this xD I just tend to make long starters, sorry.))
[No worries! I do the same thing. xD]
He had not lied to Damian when he said he was back in Gotham to work. He had not lied when he said that sometimes it was Security detail, and sometimes it was extermination.
He had not mentioned that on some nights, he worked multiple jobs at once.
Bane had never taken issue with taking life. With his background, it came as easily to him as a child in karate breaking a board. Simple. Quick. Effortless. So when these two men decided that they were going to become a problem for his current employer, the man knew exactly who to pay to get rid of said problem.
The first one was stupid, or naive. He'd chosen to rush Bane, as if he were a typical bouncer. Bad decisions are the easiest to make. It was a quick task to flip the foolish one around and let him go--right through the glass. If he screamed, Bane didn't pay any attention to it. The second hesitated for a minute, and the mercenary couldn't tell what the bigger emotion on his face was between fear for himself or the chance at not having to split whatever their intended prize was to be.
The decision to run took him a moment too long to make.
"Partners until the end, if I heard you correctly." Bane commented, taking hold of the second man. Pleading and screaming to be put down, let go, and allowed to leave, the man took the same exit as his companion before Bane followed in a more efficient manner.
They had two more lackeys downstairs. From the chatter he'd heard earlier in the evening, they seemed to be pawns meant to be cut from the deal when the first set of men had found their success.
Ah well.
Pawns had to be taken as well, if one wanted a clean victory.
At least these two recognized him. He could see it in their faces when he landed. They certainly didn't look that pale under fluorescent lighting.
Their panic was his benefit, and they too were quick work and loud cracks. In less than a minute, two became one, and one became a highly panicked nothing.
Bane popped his neck, debating what to do with the bodies. He could leave them here, but proving they were dead meant heads, usually. That was messy work for an alleyway, and he didn't need the Batman to battle him into yet another prison he would eventually bypass.
Oh.
He turned to see the company he'd attracted. He never did care to explain his actions to a witness.

[After another moment of suspicious deduction of their surroundings he obliged, taking the glass and sitting where she’d implied he was supposed to. He didn’t drink immediately, but part of him did enjoy the smell of the wine.]
What led you to meet with me? [A simple question, but a difficult one. ’Why’ was the million dollar question in any situation, and this one had a lot of strings that could be easily attached.]
[When he takes his glass, she sits in the chair opposite to him. Swirling the dark liquid around, she then takes a small sip. It warms her throat and puts a nice little tint to her cheeks. Leaning back, she then quirks a brow at his question.]
I wish to put the past behind us. [She takes another small sip, swirling the glass once more.] One can not live it in forever, yes?
[He stared for a moment. It wasn't so much out of disbelief as it was out of wondering whether or not he was being asked a trick question.]
It would seem to depend on the 'one' you investigate.
[An almost immediate response, though not the best thing he could have said. Still, considering who her father was, the rhetorical inquiry seemed like a loaded one, so he answered best he could. But he'd come to discover not incredibly long ago that he certainly would not be in this world forever--and that, in fact, he was condemned. The thought brought his eyes to a more narrowed position, briefly, before returning to her.]
The past is not meant to be behind us. It is beneath us, either as water we drown in or foundation we learn to stand on.
[Again, not the best thing he could have said. But he found it to be true, though ever-shifting. He watched her carefully for expressions, signals, anything he could, really. This was out of the blue, and she had no reason to play nice with him. He wondered whether or not his recent run-in with her son had anything to do with the situation. But. One thing at a time.]
You are not supposed to be paying attention to me.
And yet here I am, paying attention.
