not saying that im anti-kink / anti-para, just saying that selfshipping is very different than being fictospec, as many selfshippers lack the genuine attraction (whether its sexual, romantic, or nonrose) fictos experience. because of that, selfshippers/yumeshippers have a tendency to completely roll over fictos, disrespecting & disregarding them.

imo selfship used to always be a form of fictosexual, i suppose as it got popularized people started hating on the "weird" aspect of it. while some selfshippers distance themselves from fictosexuality , selfshipping in itself (having yourself date a fictional character)(if it is fictional!*) is and in my mind always will be a form of it *technically*.

if somebody is just doing it for fun and doesn't have an actual attraction or is doing it as a joke, that's fine, it doesn't seem like real selfshipping, more like a watered down version of it.

while i agree with you, i think they aren't the same thing, and they certainly aren't "completely different from each other" as i can understand how they'd happen hand in hand / share similar aspects & experiences.

anyone can label themselves as anything that matches their experience, or whatever they like, but harassing others for it is never okay! applies to both "sides" or whatev u'd call it (:
