Cris (the owner of this blog) passed away on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, due to complications with illness that landed her in the ICU.

My name is Pat (over at @labrattish​), and like y’all, it was a shocking revelation when I found out. Cris lived a short life burning brighter than any star. She was an amazing person—as anyone following this blog knows. She was obstinate beyond belief but also one of the kindest dreamers I’ve ever met. She will be missed. And while sadness is inevitable, know that Cris would roll her eyes at all of us (and possibly punch us in the boob) if she managed to catch us crying too much.

Her family asked that anyone wishing to do something in remembrance of her, think about donating in her name to reputable animal foundation/charity, some suggestions:

The Argus Service Dog Foundation (service dogs for veterans)

Best Friends (general animal charity)

DELTA Rescue (the largest animal sanctuary of its kind)—I picked this one because she would have thought it was only fitting since Delta is also her dog’s name.

I’m going to be perfectly honest, I’m only in it for these demos. As someone who is hugely into learning about the creative process, nothing has held my fascination in quite the same ways as that of The Black Parade. I have always wanted to know more about it, about what things were like during that time that led to such powerfully charged songs. For the chance to get my hands on these earlier drafts and mixes...

Now it’s night (at least, here where I am) and things are quiet. I’m gonna assume that it’s safe to call it a night and get some sleep. In case things get weird(er) while I’m counting sheep, my ask box and submit box are both open. Please try to include concrete sources if whatever you’re sending me is relevant to better understanding what’s going on.

UPDATE: My Chemical Romance is releasing a reissue of The Black Parade with previously unreleased demos, a source confirms to EW. The album went platinum after its 2006 release and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

To be perfectly honest, the only reason I’m posting this is out of an interest to keep a record of things as they happen.

Just for future reference: In an effort to keep things tidy, or for those who might want to reblog just one sort of collective post, I’m going to try and keep the “What We Know” post as up-to-date as possible. The last time things got weird, I didn’t think to make a masterpost until I was neck deep in posts, but I am ready for any potential deluge this time!

Also! I’ve been told there was a tweet about “goodbye” or referencing the split that has since vanished from Twitter. It was apparently on the official MCR twitter. I know virtually nothing and the Wayback Machine has not provided any help. If anyone knows more, or has a screenshot and wants to help, we’re all ears. And by we, I mostly mean me, since I’m the only one running this blog, but also we as in the group of us who want to know what is going on. XD

Confirmation: A tweet from the official My Chemical Romance Twitter page (posted July 21, 2016) confirms that the trailer is for a 10th anniversary reissue of The Black Parade.

Stationmaster’s Note: An anticlimactic ending, sure, but there’s still the question of what they could possibly include in the reissue. If there’s interest, I’ll continue to collect information as it comes. In the meantime, continue to celebrate the music we do have and keep an eye on what the boys are doing currently. There are some really interesting projects on the horizon!

Media: Entertainment Weekly reports that “a source” confirms the video released on July 20th is a trailer relating to a supposed 10th anniversary reissuing of The Black Parade.

Stationmaster’s Note: We still haven’t heard from the guys themselves (though that’s assuming they will say anything) and the official Twitter page has, as of this writing, not posted anything other than the video. Take the report with grain of salt.

Speculation: I’ve been told by user @fablesmith that a “goodbye tweet” or a tweet possibly referencing the 2013 split has apparently vanished from Twitter. I know precisely zero about this. Anybody have more information? A screenshot, perhaps? The Wayback Machine is of no help.

UPDATE (7.20.16): There are claims that a tweet announcing MCR’s breakup on Twitter first existed and was then deleted. Digging through the Wayback Machine yields evidence to the likelihood that this tweet, in fact, never existed.

Speculation: Tumblr user @gwhiz-138 pointed out there’s a cross visible on the statue commissioned by Gerard Way and featured in the trailer for the Greatest Hits album. (It doesn’t look the same shape as the cross moline and may not mean anything, but it’s at least an interesting coincidence.)

A video was released featuring a white flag bearing a black cross-like shape waving in the air. In the background, the opening bars of “Welcome to the Black Parade” repeat. Towards the end of the video, the date 9/23/2016 (September 23, 2016) appears in black.

Speculation: According to tumblr user @nearlyb-itches, the cross on the flag is known as “the Cross Moline - French anchored cross. when used as a mark of cadency, it signifies an eighth son.”

Wikipedia’s page on cadency, for those who are also encountering this word for the first time. The picture at the top features a picture of symbols, including the cross moline.

Technically speaking, there are seven records in MCR’s discography (provided you don’t count the two DVDs).

Speculation ensues, with people acknowledging that this year will mark ten years since The Black Parade was released. However, the album came out in October--specifically October 24th in the US (and October 23rd, at least in the UK; if I’m mistaken, someone correct me).

Tumblr user @thenoirparade checked out the website’s coding (smart thinking) and found coding that appeared to be hinting towards possibly a release of another set of colored vinyls.

However, user @thetommmoway pointed out that the code referencing the vinyls is old, more likely referring to the vinyl collection released last year.

Attempting to replicate the method they used to look into this checks out and pulls up the old splash page.
