fluff and healthy fic is proship. fic that promotes christianity is proship. fic that promotes satanism is proship. fic that’s about heterosexual romance is proship. fic that’s about wholesome queer love is proship. fic about fidelity is proship. fic about found family is proship.

every single thing is proship because proship is NOT about what the fic is about. therefore ALL of these CAN also be anti ship if you choose to harass other people. so it’s about what you DO to real people. NOT what fictional things you write about in your fics.

the ONLY definition of proship is “anti censorship and anti harassment.”

that’s it. that’s all. proship literally just means “write whatever you want, however you want. censorship is bad. also don’t harass real people, especially over fiction.” at no point does it mention what tropes count as proship because PROSHIP IS AN ANTI CENSORSHIP AND ANTI HARASSMENT STANCE. it’s not about what someone writes.

if you don’t harass other people and if you understand that censorship is bad, then by definition you’re proship.

what you write about has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not it’s proship.

that said, I think the word you’re looking for is “darkship” which IS about dark and taboo ships. but to my standards, infidelity is NOT darkship — unless it involves something more taboo and messed up. a ship between a rapist and their victim is darkship. an incestuous and physically abusive ship is dark ship. a ship where one of the characters locks the other one up in their basement and tortures them is dark ship. but infidelity alone, when it comes to fiction where real-life moral compass cannot be applied to it, is just drama. think of it like a rating system. while everything I’ve mentioned — a rapist x victim ship, an incestuous and physically abusive ship, a straight up sadistic ship — is rated mature, I personally won’t rate a fic that involves infidelity as mature (unless there’re things like violence, blood and gore involved), that’s just teen and up audiences.
