Some Queenie fo today
i’ve never seen a mouse that looks so much like a mouse before
She looks like she belongs on the cover of a beloved illustrated children’s book 🥺
Everyone’s like “those Germans have a word for everything” but English has a word for tricking someone into watching the music video for Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up.
English has a lot more words created for very specific phenomena! It’s not just rick-rolling. Language is always evolving and it’s super interesting! Here’s a list of hyper-specific/untranslatable words in English.
Some of these are fucking wild.
I deadass forgot some of these existed
no shame we post our self shipping like men

Sing (2016 film)
Did I enjoy watching this movie?: Yes
Was there something interesting about this movie?: Yes
Would I want to watch this movie again?: Yes
Would I want to watch more of this?: Yes
Before I go to bed, I finally got April (my oc)’s design right. The one on the left is what she would more or less look like in the movie (hey man I tried my best) The top right, is her in highschool and the bottom right is her in my art style.
Some of my thoughts on the movie Sing and lessons I've come to appreciate...*Warning: spoilers!
(Sorry if it sounds rambly-ish, I’m SUPER impressionable so things I get excited about affect me profoundly!)
After having waited for half a year to see Sing since the trailers started showing in the summer of 2016, the week finally came for opening night on Wednesday, Dec. 21 2016. I was already enchanted by the happy, optimistic, borderline-delusional koala Buster Moon at that point and greatly anticipated the amazing soundtrack, getting to know the adorable characters and their stories, and sitting in awe for 2 hours of incredible, beautiful animation.
After seeing the movie I felt mixed inside. The lessons we get from movies can have a powerful affect on us, so it’s really important to me that a movie leaves us with a generally wholesome feeling. I need positivity, not bad tastes in my mouth. So for me, especially when it comes to animation, that means the main characters are decent role models who do or learn to do the right thing and in doing so it turns out well. The way the characters and story developed in Sing took me by surprise, however, but after digesting it for a few days I found that the wholesome lessons are there, they just take a different approach from other animated films!
For example I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who was a little disappointed that the positive main character of the movie was a bit of a scoundrel, like when he basically stole electricity and water and lied. On the other hand, Buster wasn’t evil, he was just passionate about what he loved and felt desperate. No one is perfect, and Buster is definitely unique to say the least. As happy and cute as he is the selfish decisions he made ended up destroying his theatre. So a positive lesson here, I guess you could say, is that dishonesty and selfishness reap bad results, even destroying what you love. I felt Buster had learned this at least to a degree (and it sticks to me because this is so true!)
Another wonderful lesson we learn is that overcoming fear is a wonderful thing and it can be exciting to pursue your dreams. Each character seemed to have touched on this, and these are lessons I also cherish. For example…
I liked Rosita’s personality the most. She is a hard-working, caring, inventive, loyal wife, had realistic flaws and best of all learned to achieve her dreams by being willing to work out of her comfort zone. Just imagine how things would have turned out for her if, when paired with Gunter, she said, “I am not working with this guy!” Sure she didn’t like it at first but she didn’t sulk or refuse to go on; rather, she was flexible and tried to make it work. What a great show they did together in the end!
(Speaking of Gunter, he taught me an important lesson: Be happy and positive, have confidence in yourself and in your body, but be careful because there’s a fine line between being positive and being annoying! lol)
Ash’s story of living with her boyfriend and how he treated her almost shocked me. Very different for a “children’s movie”! (I know Sing was to entertain adults just as much as young ones, but goodness!!) How realistically depressing her situation was: a young rebel who probably wanted out of the house as soon as she turned 18, moved in with her emotionally abusive boyfriend, having an amazing talent but dealing with all the crap in her personal life, learning to ‘set it all free’ and pursue her dreams. I’m glad she had the courage to break up with her loser boyfriend and write an original song to perform on stage instead of getting overwhelmed by it all and giving up. Girl power!
Johnny the gorilla, I knew from the start, was going to be a heart-throb for girls who are into the sensitive badboy with the voice of an angel. There’s so much to say about his story and I know others who are big fans of his have done an amazing job of going into his life and family in depth, so I’m not going to say much. But I’ll just say that my only personal pet peeve about Johnny is that he seems to have had a passive attitude towards a life of crime down to the end. I know it’s how he grew up and he’s still young/has a lot of growing to do as a character, and I love Johnny, but I would have preferred by the end of the movie that he acknowledge that stealing is wrong/etc. At least he decides to pursue something like singing instead of continuing in a gang. However, I’m not going to complain too much because the fact that all his previous gang members are in jail show that crime really doesn’t pay!
Meena is someone I think a lot of people, especially young girls, can identify with. Social anxiety, shyness, having 100% support from family and friends but having a hard time coming out of her shell. Her story and lesson is a personal one for me in that she overcomes her fear of failure and starts doing what she loves! I like how she had faith in Buster’s advice to just 'start doing what you love, then you won’t be afraid anymore because you’ll actually be doing it’! A wonderful lesson. And by the way, Buster’s kindness and support towards her shows that he’s not just an insensitive Producer who doesn’t take personal interest in others. Buster can be aware of and deal gently with even the most fragile (even if they’re an elephant lol)
Mike the mouse is just so ridiculously self-centered/snarky/arrogant that it makes me laugh. He’s as cocky as he is talented. Biggest ego in the tiniest body, he’s Frank Sinatra as a mouse in the Sing universe. I love his voice, his taste in music, his zoot suits, but I’ve never been a fan of mean characters. At the same time, I love that he’s voiced by Seth MacFarlane, which makes it hilarious.
In the end they were all humbled and learned how to have fun with hard work and just doing what they love. Dreams do come true!
Yes, Sing doesn’t cover some of the heavier issues like the ones in Zootopia (such as prejudice), and maybe the plot wasn’t incredibly original, but in my opinion, this movie simply did things differently, not badly. I’m actually really impressed with how it all turned out – It’s like they knew it could have been a terrible movie with an unoriginal plot and animals singing annoying pop songs but they played their cards right and actually succeeded in making us love it! They did such a great job on this movie!!
With that said, I found Sing to be fun and filled with great music, beautiful animation and adorable characters. I think I’d prefer more traditional storylines for animated movies like the ones Pixar/Disney makes, but the characters, especially the relentlessly optimistic and dreamy attitude of Buster Moon, resonates with me. I’m totally smitten!
so in other words, Buster is going out with his idol’s grandson?
Marina Frost, the owner of the Dreamer's Theater. It is the second theater with Moon and is considered the rival theater. Marina or Ms. Frost is a snow leopard and is passionate about the arts She may look kind, but she packs one hell of a bite when angry or competing. She would be voiced be Patti LuPone

WHAT HAPPENED TO MIKE AND HIS GIRL I NEED TO KNOW
Sing OC!
A character I designed for “Sing”, but I am growing rather attached to the concept! My mom used to call me her “little Squirrel” because of how silly I was. SO it also ties in a good memory! She is an Indian Giant Squirrel to be specific. Gene and art © Me
So… i said i was going to make an OC for Sing xD
I’m going to stick to what i know and name her Rue and she’s an ok singer when she have warmed up xD Luckily she’s not there to sing, she’s a very new play writer and instructor. She’s a litte reserved but once you get her started she’s hard to get to shut up
At first i was inspired by the American Chinchilla rabbit so she weight around 5,4 kg, i haven’t really figured out how tall she is but if i don’t go to bed soon i’ll be using my desk for sleeping in a few moments
friendly reminder that sing is a great movie and the only thing stopping me from becoming a fully fledged furry is that im capable of drawing Johnny as a Human™

Lol I kinda went overboard but I’m really digging this character😄 I think I might even do a little side ask or RP blog. 🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼 Any who, just a little info about Pearl: - She’s a horticulture major minor in environmental studies. She is very extroverted and excitable. She studied the cello since she was 10 however she views music as more of a hobby and not a career choice. Besides the enviroment and cello Pearl is very passionate about fashion, she always likes to look her best, her favorite articles of clothing being billowy sundresses and pooffy skirts. Pearl loves praise and soaks it in like a sponge, flattery is certainly the way to this girl’s heart. But more than anything Pearl loves making others happy and making them laugh. 🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵🌼🐵 (More to come, what do you guys think? Should I make a separate RP or Ask blog?)
So uh! i gave in and made myself a Sing OC lol
His name is Cosmo and he’s a cat. he’s a trans man and is 3 years on HRT, Before he started T he was praised for his vocals but after transition he figured he couldnt do much with a deep voice as he was so used to singing high notes, so, he went on to pursue an coding and computer-creating career!
He rediscovers his talent and interest in singing after he heard of a competition, and he realizes he’s still got all the talent of his younger years, but he just has to get used to the voice pitch change!
uhhhh He plays a keytar he made himself (the keys are actually touch-screen) and his performance outfit he made himself using lot’s of LED lights! for his singing style he would sing and play lots of electric lovepop or vaporwave, something like this:
I hope you like him!!
