I'm rewatching Gilmore girls, I basically grew up with the show. How did I not realize that Rory basically spends the entire first season (I'm on S1, so probably the rest of the show too) being eaten alive by guilt and feeling shame just for existing? She is basically constantly apologizes just for being alive, either with her words or actions. It's heartbreaking.

calling rory a homewrecker is the laziest most boring critique you could possibly make of her. like yeah yeah cheating is bad but tbh some homes are better off wrecked. i'm glad lindsay didn't get trapped in a loveless marriage with her shitty small town high school boyfriend who she never should have married in the first place. rory shouldn't have slept with a married man, but in the long run she did lindsay a favor by mercy killing that marriage in its infancy. if you really want to call rory out for something, expand your horizons! start with her vehement defense of the literary merits of fucking ayn rand. like girl, wtf???

It's genuinely such a boring thing to say about it. I think that more than anything, their marriage falling apart was kinda inevitable. Dean wasn't happy and was probably going to do something hurtful because he clearly wasn't going to be emotionally invested at any point. I mean, that whole bachelors party thing happened even BEFORE they were married so it felt doomed from the start. I just think that calling Rory a homewrecker is such a lazy take because I think that it's also a good story about how living a life you don't want to be living is a miserable way to live. Sorry op to steal your post, I thought that it was an interesting point to make :]
